Poetical Works of Scott read one of the titles on the shelf in the Poetry section. The word “Poetical” stood out to me; we would say “poetic” now. Language changes over time., I thought to myself. We simplify words; we make new ones; some words fall out of fashion; some are merged with others to create new words. I wonder how we went from “poetical” to “poetic.”

A spring day in the city
Published on under the Stories category.
The sky is wonderfully blue. I can’t see a single cloud. I wrote as I was walking through the park this morning. When I see the sky so blue, I cannot help but crane my head around to see whether I can spot a cloud. I couldn’t! Maybe there was one hidden behind the tall green trees around me, but I am definitely counting this as a morning where there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.

Whenever I go to an art gallery, I strive to make sure I have time to see any Impressionist exhibits. Impressionism is my favourite type of art. Today, with no plans for the afternoon, I went into the National Museum of Scotland. I have been a few times, so I headed directly for the Impressionist section. I want to feel, I thought to myself. Impressionism really makes me feel.

Morning

This morning I woke up early. I like to wake up early on weekends and do some reading. I usually go to a coffee shop. There is nothing like reading a book with a coffee in hand. I’m reading Before Tomorrowland right now, which tells the story before the world in which the Tomorrowland movie is set. The book has been great so far.

Word of the day

Sometimes when someone is talking I will hear a word and think I haven’t heard that one before! If I hear – or read – a word I haven’t heard before, I usually look it up. I wonder what this word means!, I think to myself.

Brainstorming a Notion-powered static site generator

I write my daily notes in Notion. I keep one long document called “Today” in which I keep track of TODOs and all my notes and observations from the day. While the page is called “Today”, it is a living document that often ends up getting very long. There have been a few times where Notion’s search has become too slow because of how many notes I have taken. [^1]
