The UAH Department of Mathematical Sciences develops students' analytical skills and ability to work in a problem solving environment -- skills and abilities highly valued by graduate schools and employers.
Dedicated to education, research, & service
At UAH our mission is multifaceted. We strive to produce new generations of mathematically proficient graduates who can apply quantitative and inductive reasoning skills to a variety of complex problems, to discover and disseminate new mathematics, to promote and communicate the importance of mathematics in society, and to help maintain standards of excellence in mathematics.
Students benefit from individual attention afforded by typically small class sizes, and take courses in linear algebra, geometry, sequences, differential equations, multivariable calculus, topology, number theory, probability, and others. A degree in Mathematical Sciences is demanding yet versatile. The field of mathematics is growing, fairly lucrative, and offers a good quality of life.
