This app is the brilliant solution to staying productive. It allows you to control how and when you need to: 1. stay focused 2. Stay free from social media for a few mins or a few hours. 3. Whether you need to be deep in focus, or whether you would like to be able to check your apps every now and then. I’ve been using it for a year now and I’ve found a huge increase in my productivity at work and honestly at home as well. I’m not looking at social media as much anymore and that’s keeping my brain free from the craziness it can bring. You also have control of what you block, when you block it and for how long. Maybe you just want to stay off your phone for that; meeting, date night or that lunch with your friend. Opal will help you do that. Best part is that each week I can see how much time, I’ve given back to myself by not being on my phone. This app is gold. Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed honestly
Fixed some of the bugs that I’ve had in the past, but now new ones have popped up. For example, it’s putting time restrictions on apps I haven’t even blocked during work hours which means their widgets don’t work at all. But other than that it’s great. I have 2 app suggestions which would be great features. I don’t mind if you have to make these premium, I would probably pay for them:1. Lunch break option during work hours. I hate being restricted from notifications while at lunch and having to do a 15 min break 4 times per lunch hour is super irritating. So maybe an option for lunch just 1 per day so I don’t always have to tap “leave early” then remember to re launch the session?2. An inbuilt pomodoro timer feature. Similar to the above, I use other pomodoro timer apps but it’s just too annoying to switch between them and opal when I want to have my 5 min or long break. But if you add these please make sure the timer doesn’t start until the user approves, as we should be able to work over the timer if required.
This app has transformed my lifestyle, I used to struggle with focusing on my studies and homework with the various distractions on my my phone - homework was piling up fast with none completed because of all my apps in my way. As soon as I started using Opal I was more motivated to focus on my tasks ahead, start your semester with Opal for better grades. The Elle Woods Study Method is highly recommended and consists of putting study first in result of something motivating you to, this app motivated me. It has decreased my screen time to less than an hour a day, my life is happier and I feel more complete. Not only is it fantastic for studying, but for my sleep schedule as well. My sleep schedule was all over the shop with sleep ins because of late nights and endless scrolls on my devices, now with Opal I have more energy and rest hence a good day ahead. I highly recommend.
Honestly, I’ve never been able to manage my social media usage on my phone. I’m all or nothing. Actually I have a lot of addiction issues in my family, so phone problems is where it emerges for me. This app has given me the ability to choose reasonable timeframes that I can use social media apps and the ability to 100% block me outside of those times. My presence in life is so much better, my self esteem from not beating myself up that I can’t control myself is gone and I’m now getting way more wonderful things competed in my every day life. I never leave reviews. Like, ever. But I am voluntarily writing this tonight as I’d love to inspire others to feel empowered in their phone usage as I am in mine. Absolutely worth the money. I downloaded and began using this app not expecting much. After a week of use, Opal has well and truly exceeded all expectations. In the past I have tried to use Apple’s native screen time management, however it would always end up with me bypassing all the previously set restrictions or turning off screen time altogether. Opal made screen time management so much easier, mainly due to the customisation and flexibility built within the app. I love the ‘sessions’ feature which allows me to take inspiration from the app or others when it comes to blocking a list of apps during a select time period, which can be set to repeat. I found and used the ‘digital sabbatical’ session which I found impactful and beneficial. If you want to make screen time management easy, effective and somewhat fun/ rewarding, download Opal now.
The background design is so beautiful I must say. Currently, I haven’t come across any bugs. Summing up screen time by different types of apps is also impressive. I know it might not be the focus of this app but about Time Focused, there is only one little line about it. Can't find the sum of time I blocked distractive apps a day, if there is a function like this, it would be very motivating.And about the milestone existed, they all look perfect, but maybe you can add more milestones about hours focused(now there are only 10, 50,100,500,1000)? This might motivate some users to keep using this app since it becomes harder and harder to keep on after 100 hrs, the gap between these milestones is just too wide. Just find more shinning gems and add them. Might attract more long-term users. Looking forward to improvements!
