Search trails by difficulty level, elevation gain and more – even find ones that are dog-friendly. Plus, community reviews will give you a bigger picture before you head out.
As long as you always remember, that using All Trails is only useful whilst your phone is functioning, then your good to go.My advice would be to always take a battery reserve. I learnt that the first time I used it. I also learnt that the “Navigate” feature, which drains your battery, is mostly not necessary. You can always see your location, compared to the highlighted route that you’ve downloaded in advance, and use offline. You won’t get alerts if your off course, but If in doubt, check the route before straying too far off course. Just use common sense. If I was to do a multi day remote walk, with no signage, I’d want a map and compass as well.Despite these pre conditions, I love using this App. I think it’s value for money, and a great tool. If nothing else, it’s good to have reassurance that your still on route…. and if not, ( and that happens occasionaly to me, cause I chose not to use “Navigate”) it’s easy to use the map to re find the correct course.
The AllTrails app is a fantastic tool for outdoor enthusiasts. It offers a comprehensive database of hiking, running, and biking trails, making it easy to find the perfect adventure for any skill level. The app provides detailed trail maps, including elevation gain, difficulty level, and user reviews, helping users plan their outdoor activities with confidence. One of the standout features of the AllTrails app is its offline map capability. This means that even if you're in an area with no cell service, you can still access trail maps and navigate through your chosen route. This is especially useful for remote wilderness areas or when traveling to unfamiliar locations. The app also allows users to track their progress and record their hikes, runs, or bike rides. This feature is great for setting personal goals and keeping a log of your outdoor activities. Additionally, you can easily share your adventures with friends and fellow outdoor enthusiasts via social media platforms. The AllTrails community is another highlight of the app. Users can leave reviews, photos, and tips for specific trails, which can be incredibly helpful when planning your next outing. Seeing others' experiences and recommendations adds an extra layer of confidence and excitement to your outdoor adventures.Overall, the AllTrails app is a must-have for anyone who loves to explore the great outdoors. Its user-friendly interface, extensive trail database, offline map capability, and active community make it an invaluable tool for planning and enjoying outdoor activities.
Love love love this app! It’s probably the only walking app you really need. And you can use if for so much more than you initially think. I use it mainly as we are traveling around Australia to find any nice close-by track to walk the dogs but also to explore the area. The search function is a little hit and miss with ‘nearby’ being a rather generous description often. But it is still useful to get descriptions of various trails plus you can see what others say or add. The National Park Guides at this stage seem quite US focused as well. Instead of any of that, I usually just click on the map symbol and it will show you any nearby track. Or you can just use it anywhere to track your own activity - be it a walk, cycle, canoe or snowshoe trip - with a pretty good topographic map. It also sends you handy alerts if you ever accidentally veer off a chosen path. I certainly love the peace of mind that I can always check my position, how much of the track I have done and how much further to go. The app even contains a handy ‘lifeline’ feature where you can share your activity with contacts in case something goes wrong and you have to be found. You’re able to access the activities you have tracked or your reviews with photos as a history under your profile which is nice. It would be great if you could search them somehow by area etc. The only negatives are that the user xp is occasionally a little unintuitive at first although I have noticed some improvements over time. I would love to be able to go back to edit my stored trail data, for instance if I forgot to turn off the tracking when I finished the trail. But in comparison to what I get out of the app, these are peanuts. I don’t subscribe to many apps. But this one is a keeper!
The basics are excellent but some fundamentals make me regret upgrading to pro. 1. Apple Watch app is a useless marketing gimmick. It only works while you have the phone app open 🤷♂️ 2. You can’t select trails from the map view. You can see them right there but you can’t select them. How are you meant to find them from the list? They are not labelled 3. You cannot change trails once you have started recording a walk. Things change; the weather, the trail, my mind, but this app is too rigid for real life. I think they need a planned feature list to help out based on what I have read in the reviews so far, this is the only outlet users have.Update: support reached out and said to log it with them, still works the same, you have to click on pins to see which tracks on the maps are part of an official trail. This makes looking for trails via the map clunky and difficult. Support were no help and no new features seem to be on the way. I have dropped my rating to 1 star because they wasted my time
Hi there - thanks for the feedback. When you look at a trail from the map view, you should be able to select it. If this is not the case, please reach out to support@alltrails.com so that we can look into this for you. We will be sure to pass your feedback along to our product development team for future consideration.
This app is legit awesome, it’s actually an app that is worth the money for the pro version. I’m not big on spending money on apps let alone $30 but this is one thing i would recommend to others. It tells you the closest ones trails, different types of trails such as dog friendly, waterfall, top rated tracks. It even has everyone’s reviews of the trails and also let’s people upload photos from their walk. Also different difficulty levels, easy, moderate and hard. It tells you an estimated amount of time it will take you and how far it is. You can even connect the app to your Apple Watch so you can record your walk and once you’re finished it automatically sets it as a “completed” trail. Incredible app and really well done.
I’ve been a subscriber for a number of years and it used to be a great product. However, they have now introduced a new tier of membership (Peak) and have taken features away, that I used to have access to, and put them into their more expensive tier. I am disappointed by this greed especially as my annual membership renewed days before they implemented their new membership tier. They’ve tried to justify this behaviour and attempt to convince users that their new membership offerings are great, but they’re not… They’ve taken away features that subscribers used to have, added some window dressing and hiked the price. To top things off, the app is riddled with pop-ups to try and entice you to upgrade to Peak. So much so, it feels like I’m using adware. This is a greedy grab for cash so I have now canceled my membership and won’t be renewing, just as many other users are also doing. Stay away from this company because they are greedy and are lacking in decency. Good riddance AllTrails.
Thanks for the feedback. We'd love to hear about what improvements we could make to the app to make it better. Feel free to reach out to support@alltrails.com with any additional feedback. We hope to hear from you soon!
