That’s because there are no speed limits, traffic lights or pedestrian crossings to keep things in check. Undaunted, the merry heroes in this game jump for joy – and self-preservation – whenever a high-speed vehicle comes barreling toward them.

Chicken Jump’s one-touch controls are wonderfully streamlined: Tap the screen to send your daring avatar into the air, precariously avoiding cars, fire trucks, boulders, spaceships and whatever else comes storming along.

It sounds like a cinch, but Chicken Jump’s seemingly simple gameplay is strangely demanding – which makes it perfect for your next high-score challenge.

Can you beat our score of 49 using one of the starting Town Folks characters? We chose a pleasant, pigtailed girl with nerves of steel, who survived all manner of road rage before checking out in a satisfying burst of pixels.

Here’s a handy tip: Don’t get distracted by the coins, letters, and other objects zipping around the screen. Focus squarely on what’s coming and get into a good jumping rhythm. And watch out for those tricky slow-down sections. They’re a doozy.
