Enter Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy

3-on-3 battles on a modern-day stage.

A massive glowing blue crystal appeared in the streets of Tokyo, and when rampaging monsters emerged from its corrupting miasma, it was the armed warriors known as Ghosts who saved the people fleeing in despair.

In Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, characters from across the Final Fantasy series come together in modern-day Tokyo for 3-on-3 team boss fights. Here’s a closer look at the action ahead.

Beat the boss – and your rivals

Battles here are fought between two teams of three, and the first team to take down the boss of the stage, such as the Behemoth or the Iron Giant, wins. These bosses are incredibly powerful, so at first, your attacks will barely make a dent. Instead, start wiping out weaker monsters around the crystal to purify it and build up energy known as bravery. Maximise bravery and attack while in the Bravery Burst state to start dealing real damage.

Fail to defeat the boss within the time limit, and both teams lose.

Bravery can also be gained by defeating members of the opposing team. Will you purify the crystal first, or focus on derailing your opponents? Combine your characters’ skills with the abilities you assign them to devise your next strategy.

Classic characters in the modern world

What’s novel about Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is that characters who had shone in past Final Fantasy titles come together in modern Tokyo. You’ll find Cloud from Final Fantasy VII, Kain from Final Fantasy IV and Krile from Final Fantasy V interacting in fully voiced scenes, and see their conversations play out in the in-game messaging app.

Uniting heroes across time and space.

Some of the warriors’ styles (outfits) are based on the original games, while others are inspired by modern Tokyo fashion. Styles do not affect battle performance, so you can collect your favourites purely based on aesthetics.

A distinctive, casual look that’s quintessentially Tokyo.

One of the delights of this team-based game is the seamless way players can connect and support one another. You can showcase your favourite titles from the series with tags, and even send gift tickets to other players. Of course, stronger coordination in battle will boost your win rate. So join forces with your companions to reclaim the power of the crystals and restore peace to the modern city.
