  • Enjoyed very much

As someone who beat every ascension in Slay the Spire and every Covenant of this game, I can say I really enjoy the gameplay mechanics of this game. There are so many different synergies. There's quite a bit more replayability in this game compared to Slay the Spire. Although Slay the Spire is simpler, I'd say this game is still very beginner friendly.

  • Fun, Addictive, Highly Replayable Game!

Started playing MT recently, don’t want to count how many hours I’ve spent with it. Really fun game! Lots of replayability, with its variety of clans/champions/units/spells and roguelike elements. Very well-designed UI and solid in-game information, which help with the learning curve. One thing I suggest: turn off The Last Divinity DLC setting (in the upper right of the screen) and move up levels in the base game for a while before trying the DLC version. The DLC, imho, is better suited for a later additional challenge. MT is well-balanced for the base game - challenging yet winnable - but it can be very difficult to get some units/clans to work well with the added wrinkles in the DLC.

This game is excellent! Slightly easier than Slay the Spire because you have a lot more control over your deck, but still extremely fun and lots of variety going on with the different factions and champions. It’s challenging and mentally stimulating thinking about the multiple levels and combos. The writing for the dialogue feels a bit odd at times, not sure how to explain it. Maybe it just feels stunted, like there is a lot of lore the player isn’t getting. It doesn’t detract from the gameplay in any way though!

  • Loads of fun.

There’s a couple games on Apple Arcade that make it more than worth it and getting Monster Train + adds to my personal list. I really enjoy the variety given to mix and match so many ideas. I really hope we can get an update where we can go even further similar to enter the gungeoun where if you craft your run right you become god. Having an absolute blast really hope for an expansive update in the future/sequel!

  • Great intro to card battle games

This was my first ever battle card game. I was looking for something that was fun and simple yet, deep and complex enough for me to keep playing in perpetuity. This game is IT! Loads of replayability and it’s delivered everything I had hoped for and more. I even purchased the game full price for my MacBook Air so I could mess around with the online features and contests that you can’t get in the Monster Train+ version of Apple Arcade. Only issue I’ve had is that sometimes on the newest iPhone 16 Pro Max there is some noticeable slowdown/lag on all the lower speed selections up to Super Ultra. It seems to happen at higher Covenant rankings and also seems more slow/laggy when airplane mode is on. Other than that I love this game and highly recommend.

The combat has me on the edge of my seat! Knowing you could be 15m into a boss battle and the game may crash at any second adds a level of tension, though not one the devs likely intended. I suggest the devs ask users whether they favor animations or stability, and take note of the answers they get. The fact that I had it crash on me five crucial times and still attempted a sixth speaks to the game’s potential, but I’m officially out until they fix it.Offer a version with zero visual effects, and see which one people prefer.
