  • iPad user experience could be improved

    Kotesh.M

User interface for iPad is similar to that of a phone. It doesn’t fit the entire screen of the iPad. Most other news apps does support enlarging the UI to fit the screen for iPad. Surprising to see most notable newspaper The Hindu doesn’t support this. I would suggest the tech team to look at the New York Times app in all the platforms and devices and also the Economic Times. It would be hard to retain even the most loyal users if the app is not designed to be usable across different devices long term. Accessibility ensures that the reader being able to access the content from different devices ensuring consistent and efficient experience.

Hi Kotesh, Thank you for your suggestions. We will try and incorporate them in upcoming versions.

  • Updates are good, still more scope to improve!

    Eddie_321

The updates that I see in the app are remarkable, the earlier versions of the app were very slow and unresponsive and quite ugly. I like the Hindu article and the newspaper, that was the only reason I downloaded the app but was very disappointed.Over a period of time, the app has shown significant improvement over the updates it received. I see a lot of improvement can still be made and they should be open to ideas and look into other news app and take ideas from there as well. Checkout the ndtv app, how the app loads and the for the user how user friendly it has been made. The Hindu has a mark for itself in the newspapers this should also reflect in their mobile apps as well. The 3 stars are for the improvements made in the app.

  • Updates improve the app

29 March: Latest update has again brought back the Back Button bug under cities. It is now again always going to Bengaluru even if I'm reading a Chennai article. I'm really glad to see the updated app as it addressed a lot of the previous issues. However one annoying thing I found is that when I'm in the Chennai section under Cities and am reading an article related to Chennai, when I tap the Back button (as that's the only option I see) it takes me back to the main Cities section instead of Chennai. Please fix this.

  • The iOS app is finally here

    SPat0818

The graphics are poor, the app itself is buggy and crashes frequently, but I'm ready to overlook all of that as I'm so happy that we finally have an iOS app for the beloved TH.But recently, I've also been getting the feeling that the quality of editing in both the desktop and mobile editions is not good, especially compared to the print edition. There are numerous typos, awkwardly worded paragraphs and misplaced sentences. I hope someone up the food chain looks into this and gives the internet/mobile editions the respect they deserve. There are people like me who would be willing to spend money for the app provided we get the sort of premium content we all expect from TH.

  • Best news worst app

    whydoineedanicknameumoron

I had this app before then I deleted it because of user experience. Downloaded it again because all other news companies have only one agenda, tell you which Bollywood actor is wearing which cloth. Having same horrible experience again, app crashes on every article. You have to open it multiple times to get to any article. Just hard to imagine that company like Hindu can’t afford one decent programmer from the land of software engineers. Deleted this app again. I have received an update form development team that they are working on a new app. I am upgrading the rating to two stars. I will wait for the new app for now and I have deleted it because I can’t use it at all.

  • Waiting for this app for long time

Updated for latest revision.Great improvements, still see some text missing/hiding on the right side.Would appreciate if more content was added and give us option to download content to phone.Best news paper in India, app is simple to navigate, nothing fancy, would be great if resolution/quality is improved. Pictures & font look blurry on iPhone 6. In some articles some text on the right will be missing I can't see it even if I slide it to left. Would appreciate if more content was provided, can't wait for Frontline app.
