Backyard Basketball ’01 is a classic PC game and it shows in both good and bad ways. The charm, characters, and backyard atmosphere are all still here and bring back a lot of nostalgia. However, the controls on mobile are rough and clearly weren’t designed with touch screens in mind.Movement feels awkward, timing shots is inconsistent, and the virtual buttons don’t translate well from the original keyboard and mouse design. It’s fun in short bursts, but the controls can be frustrating enough to take away from the experience.If you grew up with the PC version, it’s still worth trying for nostalgia. Just don’t expect a smooth or modern mobile control experience.

But this time they’re free!There are some small packs I have, the intro doesn’t play, and this is perhaps the first sport that feels too cluttered on a phone, but I have only played one game on it, so I will probably get used to it down the line.If you’re a fan of the backyard sports series, or any easy to play sport games, especially ones that are free of charge, I highly recommend this.

Pretty hard to play on a smartphone, especially because characters will randomly stop running and you have to continue to tap the screen to get them to keep running. Should leave it on easy mode if you want to have fun with it.
