I was debating whether to go for this calendar app since it is a bit pricey. However, I just dove off the deep end and downloaded it. I needed something to tackle my 5+ email accounts and Fantastical does it beautifully well. Even though this calendar is greatly suited for the average user, it also includes robust, advanced features for those that need a “tank” of a calendar app. I enjoy the GUI. It seems to flow more logically compared to the built-in calendar app, and you have a few more color options to organize your stuff (calendars, dates, reminders, etc.) Something that I use constantly is the menubar mini-app to create events/appointments. This app is different, however, in that it doesn’t require you to learn special keywords. You just start typing how you would normally speak and it will understand, for the most part. They have examples of creating calendar events on their website. I’m overall very happy with this application and the recent bug fixes have made my personal user experience better.I will say that when you buy this app, you are purchasing something with far more features than what comes pre-installed on your computer. If you don’t need a feature-packed application, then this app might not be worth the higher price tag. The built-in calendar app still works just fine for most people’s needs. I use this with all my email acounts and it syncs across every Apple device I own. It just works and I don’t have to think about anything other than my appointments.

Glad to hear that Fantastical is working out for you! It's a fine line to walk when balancing simplicity and 'power user' features, so it's good to hear you think we're doing ok in that regard :)
Just finished the trial and loved it, but one thing would make it perfect for me

I've been using Fantastical on iOS since v2, and when I heard about v3 and the subscription model, I was hesitant at first but wanted to give it a fair shot. After reading through the features and going through the tutorial videos, I started a trial and took the new Fantastical for a spin. From the first launch, it’s clear that the team at Flexbits has put a lot of time and effort into v3—from the wide variety of display options to features like location-based calendar sets. It's not just loaded with helpful new features but it also has a lot of "nice to have" features too. It’s also clear that the team is working hard on bug fixes and updates—just check out the version history to see the frequency of updates and the number changes with each version. So what’s holding me back from subscribing to Fantastical Premium? Simply put, the cost is too high for the value I'd get out of it. Fantastical 3 has a lot of great features that support collaboration, but I use it exclusively for individual productivity. As much as I wish I could use those collaboration features, I simply have no need for them. Now if Flexbits offered a subscription geared for individual users without the collaboration features and at a lower price, I’d be all in!

Amazing App

Such a great app and useful way to remain organized. I used to use several apps to keep track of events and reminders, but Fantastical helped me streamline the process. Works for Mac and Iphone. I am able to look at both my work calender and check off reminders that I set for myself without even unlocking my iphone (through widgets). Great connection to additional apps such as reminders and outlook. I can still keep track of reminders in the reminders app and set work events on my work outlook, but now have it all organized in one place (Fantastical). What to improve- I LOVE the widget, but it often feels too condensed/clunky. I would love for a more clear and spacious format, specfically by minimizing all day events. Also, I believe events for the following day do not need to appear until ~6pm. At 11am I do not necessarily need to see the following day's reminders, but would rather have current reminders spread out (on the iphone widget). I would just reconsider the overall widget design, while I love the customization with colors, I would try to reduce the fixed colors and simplify design so that it is clean, spacious and yet fits several lines worth of events. I would try to make it as similar as possible to the notification center widget, as that one is perfect!Great App and worth the buy!!

Wonderful App for Exchange Calendars
tim.kite
It’s been a few years since I’d run Fantastical, so I decided to give it a try to see if it was worth the money to remove the frustrations of juggling Exchange, iCloud, and GCal accounts across Outlook and Apple Calendar. I was pleasantly surprised to find essentially every Exchange calendar feature I needed, something Apple Calendar sorely lacks. It even did some things better than Outlook, like merging identical meetings from multiple calendars (think your team calendar plus your personal calendar showing the same meeting) and the ability to duplicate meetings (basic, I know, but Outlook for Mac lacks that feature). The natural language creation of events is kind of a meh for me, I prefer clicking through all the details, but it does at least allow that. The Calendar Sets feature is also nice, but can be restrictive. I would like to see a “Manual” set that replaces the sidebar with all my calendars and lets me toggle them on and off. I’m not keen on the way it handles tasks, but then again I don’t think I’ve seen anything better than Reminders and this still lets you use that.Where this experiment failed, sadly, is when my personal calendars came into play. iCloud push support isn’t there (though I’m sure that’s Apple’s fault). Also, part of the value proposition is the one subscription covers all my devices…but I really didn’t care for the iOS app. So, when it came time to decide whether I should pay out of pocket to replace Outlook on a single machine, sadly the answer is no. It’s hard to beat free, even when free is clunky and garish.
