Looking for something fresh to play? Here are a few of our faves.

‣ Does it get any cozier than a game about a mouse making a comfy home in the woods? Be forewarned: This storybook setting has an ice-cold edge, as each homemade pie or hand-knit pair of pants becomes a defense against the forest’s brutal winter. If you’re planning a long trek for supplies, be sure to boost your cold resistance with a hot cup of tea first.
‣ Drop Duchy is a delicate balancing act. What looks at first like a recognizable puzzler turns into a game of deep strategy, as you tactically place buildings to stock and staff your rising empire. We love that we get to decide where to place enemies, too, but be sure to space them out to keep them from amassing into a game-ending army.
‣ We’re thrilled this old-school action RPG, first released in 2001, has come to iPhone and iPad—though it’s still surprisingly tough! You’ll begin the game as a convict in a mining colony, penniless and surrounded by thugs who may try to shake you down—an apt introduction to this ruthless world where respect has to be earned.
‣ As the newest member of a secretive government agency, use your computer skills to help solve all sorts of crimes, from arson to alien abduction. Analyze evidence, sift through digital documents, and assist agents out in the field. Security camera footage looking grainy? Enhance!
‣ Based on a real-world physics concept (Gauss’s law), Void Flux’s neon puzzles, filled with glittering gems and loops of light, really put our brains through the wringer. Don’t miss all the awesome customizations, like the multiple color-blind palettes to choose from.
