APPLE ARCADE

Dish out fun with Cooking Mama

Supper’s ready! Cooking Mama: Cuisine – the latest in the beloved food-making series – is sizzling on Apple Arcade. Slice, dice, grill and sauté your way through incredible meals, with a zesty twist this time around: you don’t choose the recipe... the recipe chooses you!

Got beef, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and a pot? You may be simmering up a hearty beef stew. Eggs, wheat flour and milk? How about doughnuts! Here’s a look at what’s on the menu.

Each mini-game is played with intuitive gestures, whether you’re using touch controls or a controller.

Chef it up

From juicy burgers to mouth-watering samosas, Cooking Mama’s dishes span all sorts of culinary delights, and every preparation is unique. Swipe to peel carrots or stir a steaming soup, then add salt, pepper and freshly chopped ingredients at key moments. Flip your steak at exactly the right time to ensure it’s evenly seared – toss it too high and it may hit the stove hood!

Don’t sweat it if you botch something – there’s no “game over” in Cooking Mama’s kitchen. “We prepared lots of fun surprises – even when you make mistakes,” says game director Tomoaki Matsui, “so don’t be afraid to try out lots of recipes.”

You can customise the colours of your kitchen and your tools too.

Soup’s on!

Nail each step while prepping a dish to earn stars. The more you earn, the cooler the rewards, including fresh new tools, aprons and hairstyles for Mama. Once you successfully pull off a recipe, you can cook it whenever you want, regardless of the day’s ingredients.

Matsui’s favourite?

“I love the Black Bean Burger,” he says. “It uses healthier ingredients than a regular hamburger – and adding it to the game made me realise there are different approaches to cooking.”
