The Los Angeles Sparks announced today that the team has claimed guard-forward Aaliyah Nye off waivers.

“Aaliyah is a talented young player who adds shooting and versatility to our perimeter,” said, Nate Nielsen, Sparks Assistant General Manager. “She has already gained valuable experience at this level, and we’re excited to add her to our group.”

Nye, a 6-foot guard-forward, spent the 2026 season with the Atlanta Dream after being claimed off waivers in May. She appeared in 19 games for Atlanta this season.

Originally selected by the Las Vegas Aces with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Nye appeared in all 44 regular-season games as a rookie and was part of the Aces’ 2025 WNBA Championship team. She made 37 3-pointers during her rookie campaign, the fourth-most by a rookie in franchise history. Nye was selected by the Toronto Tempo in the 2026 WNBA Expansion Draft before joining Atlanta.

Nye played her final three collegiate seasons at Alabama after beginning her career at Illinois. She earned Second Team All-SEC honors in 2024 and established herself as one of the nation’s premier perimeter shooters. In her final season with the Crimson Tide, Nye averaged 15.2 points per game and set the program’s single-season record for made 3-pointers.

Across five collegiate seasons, Nye made 389 career 3-pointers while shooting 41.8% from beyond the arc.
