The Walsh-Kokosing Design-Build Team has released a timelapse capturing the careful demolition of a portion of Cincinnati's historic Longworth Hall to make way for the future companion bridge as part of the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project. Approximately 200 feet of the building's eastern section is being removed, including portions added in the 1960s after the interstate was constructed. The work also includes rebuilding the eastern wall using preserved materials from the building's historic structure. Opened in 1904 as a freight depot for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, Longworth Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was once considered the longest building of its kind in the country, constructed with more than 4 million bricks. Throwback to August 2017, when #WalshConstruction performed and delivered the first major phase of the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Replacement in Boston. During an intensive construction shutdown period, our team replaced the eastbound portion of the bridge carrying Commonwealth Avenue and the MBTA Green Line over the Massachusetts Turnpike and MBTA commuter rail system. Using Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques, crews worked around the clock to help reduce impacts on the traveling public, shortening what could have been years of disruptions into concentrated shutdown windows. The early reopening of all lanes on the Mass Pike marked a big milestone for the project. #WalshAtWork

Excited to announce a new project at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point! Walsh Federal was recently awarded a $487.9 million contract by NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic for construction of the F-35 Aircraft Sustainment Center Phase I and CH-53K Composite Repair Facility at MCAS Cherry Point in North Carolina. Continuing our tradition at a new project! Archer Western team members proudly placed Miraculous Medals in the first concrete pour for the South Selmon Capacity Project in Tampa; reaffirming their commitment to safety, quality and the successful delivery of this important project. The South Selmon Capacity Project will expand 4.5 miles of the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway from four to six lanes, adding one inside lane in each direction to improve traffic flow and roadway safety. The project also includes improvements to 26 bridges, including a signature span over the Hillsborough River, along with enhanced underpasses and other community-focused improvements throughout the corridor. #ArcherWestern #WalshAtWork #MiraculousMedals

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's University Hospital has been recognized with ENR Midwest's Best Project Award in the Healthcare category. As the largest single-facility construction project in the University's history, the $1.5 billion, 1.9 million-square-foot hospital will advance world-class academic medicine while expanding Ohio State's capacity for research, clinical training, and patient care. New renderings look at what's ahead on the Washington Bridge as construction advances toward the bridge's planned opening in fall 2028. With work now moving above the waterline, Walsh Construction is preparing for steel erection this winter, ramp construction in 2027, and the installation of critical bridge systems such as lighting, drainage, waterproofing and expansion joints. Project leaders continue to report that key milestones are being met, with RIDOT Interim Director Bob Rocchio stating that the team is "well on our way" toward the bridge's planned completion. Archer Western hits another milestone at the Johnny G. Martinez Water Treatment Plant in Tempe, Arizona with the installation of the roof panel on the new Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) contactor facility. The team recently fabricated and installed 76 precast roof planks weighing in at 10,000 pounds each. The completed structure spans eight contactors capable of holding more than 1.24 million gallons of water combined. This critical improvement adds an advanced filtration step to the existing 50 MGD wastewater treatment facility, helping strengthen long-term treatment reliability without affecting plant capacity. #ArcherWestern #Wastewatertreatment

The Olympic Well Field Restoration and Arcadia Water Treatment Plant Expansion has been recognized with an Excellence in Sustainability Award from Engineering News-Record West. Built by #WalshConstruction and Brown and Caldwell, the project demonstrates how innovative engineering can strengthen water resilience while minimizing environmental impact. This is the world's first municipal-scale closed-circuit reverse osmosis (FRRO) retrofit, which increased system recovery from 80% to more than 90%, allowing the City of Santa Monica to produce approximately 10% more drinking water without extracting additional groundwater or expanding the facility footprint. Beyond increasing water supply, the project delivers measurable environmental benefits. The FRRO system reduced energy consumption associated with water treatment, decreased concentrate waste, optimized chemical usage, and extended equipment life. By improving the efficiency of a critical local water source, the project also reduces reliance on imported water conveyed hundreds of miles across California. https://lnkd.in/e4Zh_6TU

After severe flooding damaged a section of westbound I-70 in Wayne County, Indiana, Walsh Construction joined Indiana Department of Transportation and partners to complete a full and permanent repair. Leveraging personnel and equipment on the Revive I-70 project, crews restored the interstate and safely reopened traffic less than 32 hours after floodwaters washed out the roadway. #WalshAtWork https://lnkd.in/gZR9_4yD
