We’ve been supplying South East Queensland with landscaping materials since 1986. Today, we’re one of Brisbane’s largest and most capable yards, delivering to trade customers, local councils, and DIYers across the region fast and reliably.

How it all started
Denise and I bought Centenary Landscaping Supplies in 1985 with our last penny. Back then, it was three and a half staff (the “half” left before smoko), three trucks (one new, two very much not), and a scrappy half-acre yard.
Today? We’ve got over 50 people across the Centenary Group, three businesses, and the yard spans more than seven acres. We didn’t start it—the Hawkins family did when the Centenary Shopping Centre was built—but we took it on, backed ourselves, and never looked back. I was one of their earliest customers as a young cosmetics rep in the ’70s, then again as a teacher. But eventually, I backed out of the classroom and into a wheelbarrow.
Our friends thought we were mad. Looking back, they weren’t entirely wrong.
The Early Days Were Tough
We were broke more often than not. I’d collapse on the couch after a long, hot, dusty day, and Denise doing the books would hit me with the bad news: just $3,760 in the bank and a long list of bills due.
But we made it through, thanks to loyal tradies who paid their accounts at the end of the month and weekend sales that covered the gaps. We didn’t understand cashflow. Still not sure we do. But we worked hard, treated people right, and the business grew.
Where We Are Now
Centenary Landscaping Supplies is the largest operation of its kind in Queensland. Over 500 people now depend on us directly or indirectly. That’s not something we take lightly.
The site in Darra now spans over seven acres, with a fully equipped hardware shop and a customer service centre, all purpose-built to make your visit quicker, easier, and more helpful. The yard is clean, well organised and runs seven days a week.
