“Wood” you believe it? 👀 🪵 Without checks, pine weevils can chew through a tree’s delicate bark and inevitably cause its death. For foresters, working in 20-40 year harvest cycles, these losses put commercial forestry at risk of collapse. To get to the root of the problem, we developed Lanzarta, an insecticide that selectively targets chewing pests. Following its emergency use, Lanzarta has now been granted full authorization in the UK, enabling both nursery pre-treatment and in-forest application! 🎉 There are many branches to the science of Lanzarta. Here's how we're turning a new leaf. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gStS4TrA #Forests #Innovation #PestManagement

What if the answer to protecting crops has been in trees all along? 🌳 In Chile, Quillaja saponaria trees produce natural compounds that help it defend against environmental stress. Today, we’re applying those same compounds in agriculture through Quillibrium, a biological solution designed to help manage fungal diseases in high-value crops. Quillibrium is produced in controlled conditions for consistent quality and works by targeting pathogens while activating the plant’s own defense responses. 💪 Take a look at how Quillibrium works here: https://lnkd.in/gmxEd7zy #Agriculture #Biologicals #Innovation #CropProtection

Mosquitoes are responsible for around 700 million vector-borne infections each year, but our colleague Mark Hoppé is here to help! 🦟 This World Malaria Day, we’re sharing the story of our very own mosquito expert, who’s obsessed with stopping these insects from transmitting disease. Mark’s work helps unlock new potential for our crop protection products, showing how they can be adapted for public health use to prevent life-threatening infections like malaria from being spread. Mark has already helped prevent the spread of millions of infections around the world. He’s a strong reminder of how obsessions drive innovation. Do you have an obsession that’s driving real-world impact? Let us know in the comments. 💬👇 #WorldMalariaDay #Innovation #GlobalHealth #Obsessedwith

Farmers are battling resistant weeds worldwide, and they’re losing ground. 🌿 Rising control costs, shrinking yield potential, and fewer effective herbicides are making weed management increasingly hard. Check out this edition of The Yield, where we map out rising weed resistance and identify solutions. Hear directly from scientists on the frontlines of herbicide discovery about what’s coming down the pipeline. Get weeding! 💪 #WeedControl #AgInnovation #IntegratedWeedManagement

A big milestone for farmers across Germany, Austria and Switzerland! Earlier this week, we officially opened a new Seedcare and Biologicals Institute (SCBI) in Frankfurt-Höchst. 🥳 The SCBI is a centre of excellence designed to accelerate the development and adoption of biological solutions for European agriculture. It connects our global R&D capabilities with the specific needs of European growers. This integrated approach reflects a clear ambition: to deliver reliable, outcome-driven solutions that help farmers confidently integrate biologicals into their crop systems. #Innovation #Seedcare #Biologicals

Here’s a fact about hybrid barley you may not know… 💡 Back in 2003, Syngenta introduced the first iteration of hybrid barley and provided it commercially across Europe! Since then, we’ve been innovating for barley farmers around the world. But what’s unique about hybrid barley? 🤔 Find out from these five facts in our new installment of Cropped! 👇 #Innovation #Agriculture

Europe’s food system is under pressure and farmers are feeling it first. The question now is how quickly we can act. In a recent op-ed for Euractiv, Jonathan Brown, Head of Syngenta Europe, outlines how geopolitical shifts, economic uncertainty, and weather pressures are reshaping how European farmers operate. The innovation is there, but it isn’t reaching farmers fast enough at the speed and scale required. Bridging this gap is critical to ensure Europe can build an agri-food system that’s resilient, competitive, and climate-positive. Creating space for open dialogue across the food system will be essential to move forward. This is at the heart of this year’s Forum for the Future of Agriculture, co-founded by Syngenta and European Landowners' Organization, where we're bringing together diverse voices to explore Europe's challenges. Major breakthrough in controlling resistant grass weeds!💡 Herbicide resistance is one of the fastest-growing threats to global crop productivity — dramatically reducing yields and eroding farmland value. Today, we’re introducing VIRESTINA™️technology: the first selective herbicide in nearly 40 years to control resistant grass weeds in soybean and cotton. Designed for modern sustainable agriculture, VIRESTINA™️technology delivers: ✔️ Effective control of resistant grass weeds. ✔️ Safe for use over crops like soybean and cotton. ✔️ Reduced environmental footprint. What’s equally significant is how we got here. We developed VIRESTINA™️ technology faster than the typical 12–14 year R&D timeline — demonstrating how advanced science, data-driven innovation, and collaboration between experts are accelerating the delivery of critical crop protection solutions. As Ioana Tudor, Global Head of Crop Protection Marketing, explains: “VIRESTINA™ technology demonstrates our ability to foresee a challenge a decade earlier, to accelerate our research and development timeline, and to successfully deliver an innovation that is timely in meeting growers’ needs.” Following approval in Argentina, we are now launching VIRESTINA™️ technology globally — with planned rollouts in countries such as Brazil, Australia, the U.S., and Canada. Watch this space! 👀 Great to see the importance of VIRESTINA™ technology recognized in The Wall Street Journal, check out the article here: https://lnkd.in/dGgDVdW8 #CropProtection #AgTech #Innovation #Resilience
