About Gaby Shedwick

Gaby Shedwick is a senior author for Collider, joining in December 2023. During her undergraduate Sociology degree at the University of Warwick, she found a real love for horror cinema, writing her dissertation on the Saw franchise and becoming a regular horror columnist for the student paper.

Aside from movies and TV, music has always been a massive part of Gaby's life, following small indie bands across the UK. She loves nothing more than wellies, a bucket hat and live music in a field. You've probably never heard of her favorite band, The Royston Club, but she'll convince you they'll be world-famous soon.

Gaby lives in a small town in the middle of England.

Favorite Media

Gaby's favourite movie has been Stand By Me for as long as she can remember, watching it at just the right age. Movies such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Meet the Robinsons, The Sixth Sense and Singin' in the Rain defined her childhood. She now includes The Holdovers and Spotlight in her list of all-time favorites.

Watching Halloween in her last year of sixth form ignited her love for horror movies, with The Belko Experiment, Trick R Treat, M3GAN and The Black Phone being firm favourites within the genre.

Recently, Gaby has loved A Real Pain, Together and Sinners.

In the world of TV, she has been a huge Doctor Who fan since she was six, recreating episodes with her mini-figures as a child. She grew up on British shows such as Misfits, Outnumbered and The Inbetweeners. Currently, her favorite shows on air are Rivals and Abbott Elementary. Gaby's all-time favorite TV show is American Vandal, and she is still upset about its cancelation.

Industry Experience

Fostering her love of writing through the student paper at Warwick University, The Boar, she took on responsibility as Books Editor. It wasn't until her final year that she started writing about horror movies.

During her time at Collider she has covered major horror releases including Terrifier 3, Final Destination: Bloodlines and The Substance, as well as non-horror movies including A Complete Unknown, Snow White and Wicked. She also champions lesser-known indie horror movies, with acclaim from new directors and filmmakers such as Jon Wrightalong with Jamie Lee Curtis and the team behind Smile 2.
