About Lex Williams

Lex Williams is a music writer and film critic, who shares her time between North Carolina and New York City. From a young age, Lex has always had a passion for arts in all its forms, having worked in numerous facets of the entertainment industry over the years, she has always had an affinity for music and theatre. She is part of North Carolina Film Critics Association and is a CherryPicks Approved critic. Lex is a proud Elon University alumni, from which she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications, and a Juris Doctor from Elon University School of Law.

Lex has served as the co-editor for Culture Cabinet, a site that covers entertainment and arts, since 2023. She loves being able to use her talents as a writer to step into what she is passionate about. In her spare time, she enjoys meticulously caring for her expansive record collection, playing with her Yorkie mix, Dewey, and finding the perfect cup of matcha. 

Industry Experience

Lex has been covering entertainment news for nearly half her life. When she was 18 years old, she got her first professional writing job as a Theatre Critic with The Charlotte Observer. Since then, she has contributed to a wide variety of publications, and has served as co-editor for Culture Cabinet since 2013. Prior to starting law school in 2017, Lex worked in New York City in theatrical marketing, covering various Broadway shows, live events, and awards shows such as the Tony Awards. 

Favorite Media

Some of Lex’s earliest memories are tied to the music that her mother would play in the car on the way to school. She attributes this to her expansive music taste that she now shares as an adult. Some of her favorite artists range from 70s rock icons such as Fleetwood Mac, Electric Light Orchestra and George Harrison, to modern pop artists like Djo, Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, and Ariana Grande. She also has a great affinity for Bob Dylan. 

Lex also greatly enjoys film and television, and cites School of Rock and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as the two films that shaped her into the person she is today.
