What a bonkers year it has been for Netflix so far, which has released new projects in various genres, including both crime thrillers and mind-bending sci-fi epics. The first project that truly took off for the streamer at the start of the year was The Rip, the legendary crime thriller led by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Netflix also released a crime thriller limited series that was binged by fans around the world with His & Hers, which stars Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal. Netflix switched to the sci-fi genre for the premiere of War Machine back in March, and now more than three months and 139 million views removed from the film’s premiere, the streamer has officially confirmed that a sequel to the film is in the works.
Just over a month ago, on May 14, Netflix unleashed all episodes of Nemesis out into the world. With eight episodes all right around an hour, the show was the perfect binge to knock out over one weekend, which is what fans couldn’t stop doing as the show rose to become the #1 most-watched streaming title in the world shortly after its premiere. Not only did it reach the #1 spot, the series also pulled an immaculate 1.31 billion views, which is enough to make it one of the most-watched Netflix shows of the entire year so far.
