Pokémon Officially Reveals Location for the 2027 World Championships

Pokémon fans are currently gathered in San Francisco for the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, but it is already almost time to start thinking about next year. After a packed weekend of competitive play, major announcements, and plenty of surprises, Worlds is coming to a close. Of course, the closing ceremonies are about more than celebrating this year’s champions. They also traditionally give fans their first look at what comes next for competitive Pokémon, including where players from around the world will gather to battle for the title of World Champion next year. Now, we finally know where everyone will be heading next.

During the closing ceremonies for the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, The Pokémon Company International President Tsunekazu Ishihara announced that Singapore will host the 2027 Pokémon World Championships. The announcement will take Pokémon’s biggest competitive event to Southeast Asia next year, continuing the World Championships’ increasingly global rotation. The annual event brings together the best players across the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon video games, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE, with competitors qualifying through events held throughout the season.

The 2027 Pokémon World Championships Are Heading to Singapore

Singapore will follow San Francisco, which hosted the 2026 World Championships at the Moscone Center and Chase Center from August 28 through August 30. The city also played host to Pokémon XP, the franchise’s expanded fan event surrounding Worlds, during a particularly significant year for Pokémon as it celebrates its 30th anniversary. The 2027 Pokémon World Championships are scheduled to take place August 13–15, 2027.
