Kill Bill is on this list to make people angry. and it worked.

it's a good movie, but the only place it deserves to be on a top 10 list is a top 10 list of Tarantino movies.

sure, Police Academy is low brow comedy, but to pretend you're too sophisticated to laugh at potty jokes is admitting you're a boring person and not worth chatting at parties.

anyway, the underlying message from Police Academy, especially for its time is something we are very happy to cheer for these days (as we rightly should). let's break it down. at the beginning of the movie a guy is given a choice of going to jail, or becoming a police officer (and if he flunks out, he goes to jail). during the movie, he is face with standing up against racism and get kicked out of the academy, which will ultimately result in jail, or ignore it and graduate the academy. he chooses to risk his entire future to speak up.

but sure, if you want to say that potty humor is bad and people shouldn't watch the inspiring message hidden within, then that's on you.

you also miss the underlying message within DIrty Dancing, or ignore the impact that it has to focus on the negatives, which you do the same for the breakfast club, which is still an amazing movie about communication and perspectives.

the rest of the movies are all products of their time and should be consumed through that lens. they aren't bad, they just would never be released today.
