I have a theory:
Both books are already finished, he has the initial writing (no editors have seen it) and he has already set plans to have them released post-mortem so he can avoid any backlash from angry fans if he did/didn't do this or that.
I also have a hope:
After both books have been released, a second, more accurate and close adaptation is produced a few years after.
