Sometimes, fans of a particular IP come into what seems like a golden age, with projects emerging everywhere you look. That is pretty much how it feels right now for fans of everybody's favorite swinging hero. Spider-Man fans are pretty lucky because, these days, there seems to be a spider just about everywhere. Here. There. And everywhere it would seem. After five years without a live-action entry, 2026 offered up Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film serves as a direct follow-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home (which co-starred Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield), and follows Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) after everyone has forgotten who he is, with his only tether to the old world being his role as Spider-Man.

Since its premiere, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been gobbled up at the box office, showing just how beloved the character is, with the film becoming the second highest-grossing domestic film of all time, passing Avengers: Endgame. The film's success might cause one to think that, perhaps, there has been a shortage of web-shooting action. On the contrary. Earlier this year, Spider-Man fans were also treated to a new TV series, Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly. While the show has not officially been picked up for Season 2 yet, its widely positive reception and viewership alludes to it progressing beyond Season 1. Cage's animated character is a bit too cool for school and offers something different. Speaking of animation, the IP has, in recent years, introduced a Spider-Man who younger fans have flocked to in Miles Morales, who was first introduced in 2011.

Miles returns to our screens with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is slated to hit cinemas in 2027 with a load of beloved characters voiced by the likes of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jason Schwartzman returning for yet another adventure after what can only be described as a jaw-dropping cliffhanger from 2023 entry, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Per Sony’s current “Pay-1” licensing deal with Netflix, the streaming giant becomes the exclusive home for Sony Pictures releases once their theatrical and PVOD windows conclude, with titles typically arriving on Netflix around 120 days after their theatrical release. Hence, per data acquired by What’s on Netflix, should the current theatrical release premiere of June 18, 2027, go ahead without further delay, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will make its Netflix debut on Saturday, October 17, 2027. Just in time for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

What Does the Future Hold for Miles Morales?

As mentioned earlier, the number of Spider-Man projects in development at Sony is massive, and, thankfully, they seem to be striking the right chord with the fanbase. Following on from teaming up with The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) to stop a brand-new threat in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland's widely beloved MCU take on the character is heavily speculated to have some sort of role in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars. So, where might that leave Miles Morales in the wider MCU? Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed, in an interview earlier this year, that Miles will eventually make his way into the MCU, saying: “I think live-action Spider-Man movies have this destiny: to add Miles [Morales] at some point after the Spider-Verse series is completed.”
