This Office Feels More Like a Stylish Home — And That’s Exactly the Point

If you’ve ever walked into an office and immediately wanted to leave (hello fluorescent lights, sad desks, zero soul), Banda Agency’s Kyiv office will feel like the antidote. Designed by local studio ater.architects, this workspace is less “corporate headquarters” and much more beautiful, lived-in home where creative people happen to work.

Located on the second floor of an early-20th-century building in Kyiv’s historic center, the 300-square-meter office was conceived around one simple but powerful idea: people do their best work when they feel comfortable. Not stiff. Not boxed in. Comfortable.

And you can feel that intention immediately.

First Impressions Matter (And This One Nails It)

You enter through a vintage wooden door that sets the tone right away — warm, slightly nostalgic, and full of character. Inside, original architectural details like exposed masonry and decorative moldings are carefully preserved, then layered with modern elements like oak wall panels and a sleek stainless-steel reception desk. It’s that perfect old-meets-new balance that feels curated, not forced.

Nothing here screams “office.” And that’s very much the point.

The Living Room… That Just Happens to Be a Workspace

Instead of rows of desks, the main space is organized like a communal living room. There’s a long custom table for group work, smaller round tables for casual meetings, and comfortable seating that encourages people to linger (and think, and talk, and create).

One of my favorite details? A raised podium that can double as a presentation stage or event platform. It’s subtle, flexible, and smart — exactly how modern offices should function. Add in a mix of mid-century European furniture (leather sofas, classic bentwood chairs), and the whole room feels timeless, cozy, and genuinely inviting.

A Kitchen That Actually Gets Used

The kitchen and dining area leans fully into the home analogy. Small tables, mismatched vintage chairs, plenty of plants, and soft lighting make it feel more like a neighborhood café than a break room. A sculptural stainless-steel bar adds a contemporary edge, but the overall vibe stays relaxed and social.

This is clearly a space designed for real human interaction — coffee breaks, spontaneous conversations, and moments that spark ideas.

Spaces for Creativity, Rest, and Resetting

Beyond the main areas, the office includes a hands-on workshop lined with brushed aluminum pegboards — a place for prototyping, making, and experimenting. And then there’s the “Cloud Lounge,” a raised, softly upholstered space with dreamy sky-inspired finishes that feels almost surreal. It’s meant for rest, reflection, or just stepping away when your brain needs a breather.

Honestly? Every office should have something like this.

Why It Works So Well

What makes Banda Agency’s office truly special isn’t just the furniture or the finishes — it’s the mindset behind the design. This is a workspace that values comfort, flexibility, and emotional well-being as much as productivity. It acknowledges that creativity doesn’t thrive under pressure or rigidity, but in spaces that feel human and lived-in.

It’s proof that offices don’t have to feel cold or impersonal to be functional. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your team is make work feel a little more like home.
