Facility Inspections

Grade: A+

One of the reasons this place turned out to be a quality nursing home is it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Inspection scores are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. Nursing ratings are largely based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our next area, this facility received first-rate long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in that area. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't take any chances. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning to the fourth area, this nursing home also performed well in the short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that area. This finalized a straight A report card. Short-term care scores are meaningful for patients requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional skilled nursing. This means a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
