Good Morning,

I´m trying to the Github Entreprise Cloud, but when I go to the billing section it asks for the VAT Code of my company, I´m from Brazil and I usually use the CNPJ of my company as the VAT Code, but for some reason Github doesn´t accept it. When I try to save the billing information it says that I can´t leave that space blank.

What do I do?

Hi,

Brazil does not use VAT. We use CNPJ for tax identification, which is not a VAT number, so GitHub’s billing form does not recognize it.

For Brazil-based companies, the VAT field should not be required. The correct workaround is to either leave the VAT field blank or enter “N/A” if the UI forces a value. GitHub does not charge VAT in Brazil.

If the form still blocks saving the billing information, this is a known billing UI issue and GitHub Support needs to remove the VAT requirement manually for Brazilian accounts.
