Tencent rollouts TenPay in Singapore and Macao - 11th Nov TenPay Global Checkout, a new payment solution designed for Weixin Mini Program merchants operating in global markets (outside the Chinese Mainland). 1. It allows overseas merchants to accept a wide range of local payment methods through a single integration. 2. Benefits for users: Global users can pay within Weixin Mini Programs using their familiar local options, such as digital wallets, local real-time payment networks (like PayNow), and credit/debit cards. 3. Initial rollout: The service is starting in Singapore (accepting credit/debit cards and PayNow) and Macao SAR (accepting BOCPAY(MO). 4. Future expansion: It is planned to expand to other markets, including Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Mini Programs are lightweight applications within Weixin ( a chat app) that enable Weixin/WeChat users to shop, pay, and access services without downloading additional apps. ( Anyone / any biz can be sellers within Weixin (Initially designed as a chat app similar to WhatsApp) - selling/ receiving payments/delivery integration within the chat app itself). There are currently over 1 million monthly active users for Weixin Mini Programs in markets such as Singapore, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, with active Mini Programs services available across 92 countries and regions. The "B+C2C" e-commerce business model is heating up. Local Singapore SMEs Brick and mortar retailers or Traditional e-commerce players will have to continually revamp their operating model and customers engagements models to stay ahead in the game.
