How Muse works with Connectors
You can choose to connect Muse to apps and services provided by Meta or third-parties. We call these Connectors. When you set up a Connector, Muse gets new abilities, like the ability to see your calendar or write an email.
To connect a Connector
You can connect a Connector by asking Muse (example: “Connect my Gmail”), or following these steps:
- Go to Settings, then tap Connectors.
- Tap Connect next to the Connector you want and read the information.
- Tap Continue to authorize the connection.
- Follow any additional login or authorization steps.
While connected, your Muse will exchange information with a Connector relevant to the tasks you give it. Connectors have their own terms and privacy policies that govern how they use the information they receive.
We designed Muse to exchange with Connectors only the data that’s needed for them to work for you. For example, connecting your email allows Muse to search your email, but it won’t download your whole inbox (unless you tell it to). Some Connectors can also share information proactively with Muse. For example, calendar Connectors can update Muse automatically when there are changes in your schedule. We identify Connectors that do this before you connect them.
To disconnect a Connector
You can disconnect a Connector at any time in Settings under Connectors. Disconnecting stops Muse from exchanging data with the Connector. Information that Muse previously used to perform tasks with that Connector might still remain in Muse’s memories and your conversation history.
Note: You can also ask Muse to forget interactions.
Approving Connector actions
By default, Muse will not take many important actions, like sending an email, without your approval. Many Connectors can also be set up so that Muse is only able to retrieve data, but not take actions (like sending a calendar invite). You can change when Muse asks for your approval in your Settings. Learn more about setting up approvals.
Meta Connectors
Some Connectors connect to Meta products. Three of these – Facebook, Instagram and Threads – are connected automatically if you have your accounts in the same Accounts Center. You don’t need to do anything to set these up. You can manage your accounts at any time in Accounts Center. Learn more about how and when we use information across accounts in the Muse Privacy Policy.
Custom connectors
If you want to connect to a service not yet available in the Connector list, you can ask Muse to create a Custom Connector. Muse will guide you through the process, which can involve retrieving API information from the service. Muse stores these in its Secure Credentials Store. Meta doesn’t review custom connectors or how they use your information, so grant access with caution and review the provider’s privacy policies.
Notes:
- After setup, you manage Muse’s access to Connectors like Apple Health or Android SMS in your device settings.
- When connecting to Google, the use of information received from Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
