I think StackOverflowStack Overflow should really be STRICTstrict regarding the quality of the submissions in this site.

Look at diggDigg now. They grew very very fast, and they didn't mind about the quality of the submissions and now look at where they are. Submissions are junk photos not related to NEWS whatsoever.

Compare this to Hacker News, theyHacker News. They are very strict about the quality of the submissions. They have moderators who can down vote the article right away, they have complete control over the articles. They are growing fast. Very fast. But the submissions are still of high quality.
