Summer house tour season is here — we’ve rounded up five you won’t want to miss.
32nd Annual South Side Home & Garden Tour
Sunday, June 14, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Tickets: $35 presale, $40 at the door (no cash accepted)
This longstanding tour celebrates the people who have made the South Side their home. Beyond East Carson Street and the headlines tied to its nightlife, a dedicated community of neighbors is eager to showcase the rewards of city living, the rich history of the neighborhood and the unique homes and hidden gardens they love.
This year’s tour will feature nine homes, five gardens and one bonus space, for a total of 15 stops. Highlights include the recently reopened Oliver Bath House, the city’s only public indoor pool with a long legacy, as well as a converted 1800s schoolhouse that has been transformed into two apartment units. Proceeds from the tour support the work of the South Side Community Council and its efforts to strengthen and improve the neighborhood.
Southern Butler County Garden Club 18th Annual Garden Tour
Saturday, June 27, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Tickets: $20 presale by mail, $25 at the door (cash or check only)
Just north of Pittsburgh, explore the gardens of Cranberry Township with the Southern Butler County Garden Club. Neighbors open up their gardens not just for gawking, but for fellow green thumbs (and wannabes) to get gardening tips.
The tour will feature seven inspirational gardens. Attendees can also enter to win a door prize by submitting their tour ticket and purchase chances to win gardening-themed raffle baskets. Proceeds from the tour benefit club projects and local horticultural programs.
Swissvale Edible Garden Tour
Saturday, July 11, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., followed by a Community Picnic 1-3 p.m.
Free entry, but you can register to attend
This unique garden tour hosted by SAGE — Swissvale Area Gardening Enthusiasts, showcases private edible gardens across the borough. Now in its eighth year, the self-guided tour allows neighbors to open their home gardens to bring the community together and support gardeners interested in growing their own food. Visitors can expect a diverse range of garden features, including kitchen gardens, fruit trees and native plantings.
Last year’s tour featured 25 stops. A community picnic and summer garden party will follow the tour, offering food, entertainment and family-friendly activities.
18th Annual Shaler Great Gardens Tour
Sunday, July 12, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Tickets: $20 presale, $25 at the door
The Shaler Garden Club, now in its 104th year, opens the home gardens of the Shaler community to visitors. The tour highlights sustainable planting ideas and offers a close-up look at how neighbors are cultivating biodiversity in their own backyards. Garden club members and homeowners will be available to answer questions and offer inspiration.
The tour features five gardens. Proceeds benefit the Shaler Library, supporting educational programming and the upkeep of library grounds. Entry tickets also serve as an automatic entry into the club’s Great Gardens Tour Raffle.
Observatory Hill House Tour 2026
Saturday, Aug. 1, Noon-5 p.m.

Be on the lookout for tickets for Observatory Hill’s annual house tour. Planning is underway with the goal of opening up 10 homes and the Allegheny Observatory. The architecture in the neighborhood is diverse with restored Pittsburgh Foursquares from the early 20th century to grand mansions lining Judges’ Row near Riverview Park. This North Side neighborhood has an active citizens group, creating a tight-knit community through activities like the house tour and “Neighbor Fridays” where neighbors host hangouts each week at a different home.
Sold out: A Tour & Tasting in Old Allegheny
It’s worth mentioning that while Allegheny West’s Tour & Tasting in Old Allegheny is already sold out for this year’s June tour, you can join their email list to get first dibs when tickets go on sale for their Christmas tour and next year’s summer tour. Both tours are always a sellout, so start thinking early.
