  • Nuclear capacity under construction has reached 78 GW across 15 countries, one of the highest levels in 30 years, according to the IEA. Rising electricity demand, security of supply, and the need for firm, low-emission power have changed what governments ask of the energy mix. More than 40 countries now include nuclear in their energy strategies. Interest and delivery are different things. Nuclear can provide firm, low-emissions power, but a large plant takes years to plan and build and needs political commitment that outlasts the project. Wind and solar can be added in a fraction of that time. The question governments face is where nuclear fits alongside technologies that scale more quickly. The 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 on 7 October puts that question to policy experts, energy executives, and technology leaders. One panel looks at how governments are making energy choices as supply chains and national priorities fragment. A second asks how to balance firm power with fast scale, and what that means for nuclear and renewables in the future energy mix. Everyone who registers also receives the tenth edition of the Energy Transition Outlook, DNV’s forecast of the global energy mix, supply, and demand from now to 2060. • Electricity demand is rising rapidly, while governments and industry face growing pressure to strengthen energy security and keep power systems reliable. This creates a difficult set of choices. Renewables can add new capacity at speed, but growing, renewables-led power systems require investment in the whole system. At the same time, geopolitics, supply chains, and changing technology options are influencing what gets built, where, and how quickly. The launch of DNV’s Energy Transition Outlook 2026 brings together policy, industry, and technology leaders to examine those choices, alongside DNV’s latest research on how the global energy system is developing from today through to 2060. Join us on 7 October for the discussion and receive the tenth edition of the Energy Transition Outlook upon launch. Register here: https://lnkd.in/dTGM36f6

Reducing emissions must come first. The challenge then shifts to the emissions that cannot yet be eliminated. Carbon removal can help address those residual emissions. DNV is putting this into practice by purchasing verified carbon removal credits from Inherit Carbon Solutions. The agreement helps DNV address residual emissions while also supporting the growth of carbon removal technology, with the credits linked to CO₂ captured from biogas production and permanently stored. If carbon removal is going to play a meaningful role in reaching net zero, it needs to scale without compromising quality, transparency or traceability. That means companies need to be selective about the carbon removal credits they purchase, ensuring they are verified, traceable and high quality. Slide through the carousel, to look at the details of the project, how it fits into DNV’s strategy to reduce its emissions and address those that cannot be avoided, and how it supports our commitment to become climate positive. • Sanctions, trade disputes, and open conflict have pushed energy security to the top of the agenda for governments and industry. At the same time, electricity demand is rising as economies electrify and AI drives new consumption. Governments want clean energy deployed quickly, but they also need energy systems that are secure, affordable, and reliable. Whether the transition can deliver security as well as cleaner energy is the test it now faces. The launch of the Energy Transition Outlook 2026 on 7 October puts that test to policy experts, energy executives, and technology leaders. One panel looks at how governments are making energy choices as supply chains fragment. A second asks whether firm power or fast scale should come first, and what that means for nuclear and renewables. Everyone who registers also receives the tenth edition of the Energy Transition Outlook, DNV’s forecast of the global energy mix, supply, and demand from now to 2060. • King Harald's connection with DNV spanned more than half a century. In 1966, Crown Prince Harald joined his father, King Olav V, for the opening of Veritas House at Etterstad. The new headquarters brought together DNV's operations and research facilities and marked an important step in the development of the organisation. Ten years later, Crown Prince Harald was again alongside King Olav when His Majesty officially opened DNV's new headquarters at Høvik, where we remain today. Over the decades that followed, King Harald returned to DNV on several occasions, often as part of state visits that brought international leaders to Høvik. In 1996, he visited DNV with Chinese President Jiang Zemin. In 2011, he returned with South African President Jacob Zuma for discussions on carbon capture and storage ahead of the COP17 climate conference in Durban. His most recent visit to Høvik came in 2020, when he opened the digital Norwegian Sports Hall of Fame. Both King Harald and King Olav are members of the Hall of Fame in recognition of their achievements in sailing. From Crown Prince to King, his connection with DNV accompanied important chapters in our history. We remember King Harald with profound gratitude and respect, and extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family and the people of Norway.

What if repowering doesn’t mean replacing everything? DNV's Stefanie Bourne argues the industry should be looking harder at refurbishment and partial repowering - approaches that could unlock more generation from existing sites without starting from scratch. Speaking to E-FWD at the Onshore Wind Conference 2026, Stephanie explains why this could be an overlooked part of the UK’s repowering opportunity. Is partial repowering the missing piece?
