Nepal Floods: Malaysian Embassy Seeks Verification On Individual

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- The Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu is seeking verification from the relevant Nepalese authorities over reports concerning an individual reportedly associated with a group affected by flash floods in Nepal, said Wisma Putra on Tuesday.

Wisma Putra, Malaysia's Foreign Ministry, said it would not speculate on the reports while the verification process remains ongoing.

“The ministry continues to prioritise providing verified information on individual cases directly to the next of kin.

“Any development appropriate for public release will be communicated once the relevant information has been verified,” it said in a statement.

The ministry also requested the media to allow the process to continue and to respect the privacy of the families concerned.

On Monday, local media reported that a body, believed to be that of a Nepalese citizen who was part of a group with 23 Malaysians, was found in Trishuli on Sunday, about 80 kilometres from the group’s last known location.
