About Avalon Healing Center

Avalon Healing Center has provided free, confidential medical-forensic services to sexual assault survivors in Wayne County since opening in January 2006. Avalon is the largest and busiest program of its kind in Michigan, staffed 24/7 with specially trained forensic examiners who can meet survivors within an hour of a crisis call, at a location of the survivor's choosing. Beyond forensic exams, the organization provides crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and community education, available to all ages and gender identities regardless of when the assault occurred.
