Excerpt

Chlordiazepoxide belongs to the category of long-acting benzodiazepines and is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the management of mild-to-severe anxiety, preoperative anxiety, and alcohol withdrawal in adults. Although chlordiazepoxide was synthesized and developed in 1956, it was approved for use in 1960. The drug is considered one of the safest and most effective benzodiazepine composites among psychopharmacological compounds. In addition, this medication is FDA-approved for anxiety in pediatric patients aged 6 and older.
