“Jenkin is one fo the most amazing product managers, marketers and entrepreneurs I have ever had the joy of coming across. Seeing his journey from that start of his career in to product management for some of the largest companies in Asia, as well as having first hand experience with him at one of his many entrepreneurial ventures, I can definitively say that Jenkin is one to watch for. I can't wait to see what he leads next!”

I’ve often found US-based leaders of multinationals making this same error. I feel like sending them coffee mugs with “There’s no such place as ‘Asia’ “ printed on them. If I go from Singapore into any other Asian country, even walking across the bridge into Malaysia, I’m in a different business setting. Different language preferences, different macroeconomic situations, different political systems, different religious and ethnic composition, different approaches to work and education. I’ve been watching some US firms pulling functions back from overseas and consolidating them in the US, when the smarter move would be to rely on their teams in Asian countries to give them the best on-the-ground perspective.

Nike, Lazada, Victoria's Secret. Now PointAI. When leaders start leaving major fashion brands for AI startups, the industry calls it a career move. It's not. It's a structural signal. These executives spent years inside organizations that treated AI as a feature add, not an infrastructure layer. They understand the gap intimately. They know which systems can't be patched. Now they're building for AI-native platforms instead. The infrastructure these brands never built is being constructed elsewhere, by the people who know exactly what those gaps cost. PointAI is assembling the institutional knowledge that fashion companies failed to capture. This is the talent pattern that matters more than any partnership announcement. The people who understand fashion's data layer are consolidating in AI-native companies. For builders: the opportunity is the same gap. Fashion brands created the expertise but not the infrastructure. Someone has to build it. More daily takes → x.com/gambletan

Most startups have customers become investors. We had an investor become a customer. After scheduling our meeting, James Fong from Pioneer Fund tried out Koyal (YC F25) himself. He made a deeply personal short film about his teenage son battling external pressures. He then cancelled our meeting and said, “I’m in.” As a founder, this is one of the best validations you can receive for your product (the golden triangle of investor-product-customer fit) Pretty sure this also makes James the highest per-minute spender on our Pro tier so far 🫡 🚀 🫶
