Keyrol Figueroa, however, will leave Liverpool on loan. The forward's contract was set to expire this summer but he surprisingly agreed a new contract with the Reds, despite no real evidence that he'd play senior football for them.

Bernardo Silva’s case is different in origin but the same in effect. Schade can also play anywhere across the front three which, for a team under Iraola's control, is essential.

He's also only 24 years old which means that he could grow into an even better player than he already is.

And, after his performance for Brentford in their 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Sunday, it's clear that he's ready to make the next step in his career.

Over the last couple of years, Schade has quickly become one of Brentford's best attackers.

When Bryan Mbeumo left the Bees, nobody knew how they'd manage to plug the gap that he left behind.

Arteta, meanwhile, insisted he spoke to his players before the game about last season’s 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa and using it as motivation for Monday’s clash.

Wrexham have signed Burnley defender Joe Worrall for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old has agreed a two-year contract with the option for a further year.

Phil Parkinson has been eager to improve his defensive options and has now added former Nottingham Forest player Worrall to his ranks before Tuesday's 23:00 BST transfer deadline.

Wrexham have failed to keep a clean sheet in their opening four matches and are yet to win across all competitions in 2026-27.

After Friday's 2-1 defeat by Birmingham City, Parkinson declared his side had conceded "two of the softest goals" of his tenure as boss.

He was named Forest's player of the season in 2020-21.

The following campaign, he played a pivotal role in helping Forest gain promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs and was named in the second tier's team of the season for 2021-22.

Worrall had loan spells during his Forest career at Dagenham & Redbridge, Rangers and Besiktas, where he won the Turkish Cup during a loan spell with Besiktas in 2023-24.

He made 27 appearances in all competitions for Burnley.

Worrall arrives at the Racecourse Ground after 10-cap England international Conor Coady left Wrexham by mutual consent.

Coady had not featured in any of Wrexham's four matchday squads this season.

Elliot Lee, Harry Ashfield and Aaron James are among those who could leave Wrexham either on loan or permanently on deadline day.

The Red Dragons have signed goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, wing-backs Danny Imray, Issa Kabore and Jacques Ekomie and central midfielder Ben Whiteman so far this summer.

Wrexham could also recruit an additional forward in the final stages of the summer window.

Mikel Arteta has given an update on Cristhian Mosquera after the defender was forced off during Arsenal’s 1-0 win away at Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta has played down concerns over Cristhian Mosquera after the defender was forced off during Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Aston Villa on Monday evening.

Mosquera went down feeling his left hamstring before being replaced by Ezri Konsa with 79 minutes on the clock.

At his post-match press conference, Arteta said: “He’s fine, but he was feeling like he was about to have something, and that’s why we have the bench that we have, and that’s why we had to bring Ezri in.”

By then, Arsenal were already ahead, Bukayo Saka having scored the decisive goal in the 59th minute from close range after Riccardo Calafiori’s low cross.

Ebere Eze was involved in the build-up as Arsenal secured their second league win and second clean sheet of the season. Villa, meanwhile, are yet to have a shot on target this season.

It was a physically demanding contest, to put it mildly. Villa committed 17 fouls, compared with Arsenal’s six, and were lucky not to see a number of red cards.

Saka alone was fouled six times but Jarred Gillett, who seemed to take against Christos Tzolis, booking him early and even giving him a talking to after he had been fouled again, gave neither any protection.

Arsenal were forced to hook Tzolis at half-time with John McGinn and the home crowd doing their best to get him a second yellow.

Arsenal were awarded a penalty in the 54th minute after Maatsen fouled Saka, but VAR established that the foul began outside the area and referee Jarred Gillett correctly changed the decision to a free-kick.

There was a much stronger appeal in the 98th minute when Maatsen (again) scissored Bruno Guimaraes inside the box. It was a stonewall penalty.

Somehow, VAR reviewed the incident and remarkably upheld the on-field decision not to award a penalty.

Match reporting claimed Maatsen won the ball, which he absolutely did not.

After the game, Calafiori told Arsenal.com, “I think it’s impossible [to know the reason for starting the season well].

“I’m so happy with the clean sheet, especially when I talk with the guys – the defenders – I always say that if we don’t concede, we obviously have much more chance to win the game, and I think we always do so well.

“I’m so tired. At the end of the game, it’s so important for us, especially at a tough place like this one, we just want to win when we come here and we did it.

“In pre-season we were upset, I think we conceded too much, but then as the season started, we have all the players back. We fight, and you see today how we do mistakes sometimes, but how we track back with the runs, it’s unbelievable, and each player, even the attackers, so I’m so happy.”

With Manu Kone nearing a surprise exit from the Italian capital, Roma are now looking for a replacement.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, among other players, the Giallorossi are thinking again about AC Milan’s Fofana and Marseille’s Hojbjerg.

However, the most concrete option is Parma’s Mandela Keita, for whom Roma have already opened talks.

Everton are also interested in the defensive midfielder.

Chelsea's transfer deadline day is complicated, with the club working through multiple scenarios, many of which revolve around the potential departure of Enzo Fernandez.

Several of those scenarios involve Fernandez joining Manchester City for a fee expected to exceed Chelsea's initial £120m valuation, which would help fund a replacement.

One of Chelsea's internal aims is to emerge from the transfer window able to argue that Xabi Alonso's squad has improved, even if the Argentina international is sold to a direct rival.

The midfielders known to be under consideration as potential replacements are Monaco's Lamine Camara and Roma's Manu Kone.

FC Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado has attracted interest from numerous clubs over the past few weeks.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey have been among those to show interest, although neither option is a priority for the La Masia graduate, whose preference has always been to continue his career in Europe.

Against this backdrop, Casado has received proposals and enquiries from England, Italy and Germany.

However, according to SPORT, of all the options currently available to him, Bayer Leverkusen is understood to appeal the most to Casado.

Carles Martinez is the key

The main reason for Casado leaning towards a move to the BayArena happens to be Leverkusen manager Carles Martinez.

The Catalan coach became Leverkusen’s manager this summer after his spell at Toulouse. Before moving into professional football, he spent four years working at La Masia, and his relationship with Casado goes back much further.

Martinez was the first coach Casado had in Barcelona’s youth system. Their relationship has continued ever since and has even extended to their families.

For Casado, the prospect of reuniting with his first coach at a new stage of his career is one of the strongest arguments in favour of the German club.

The Leverkusen project would also allow him to play in the Bundesliga under a coach who knows his qualities and development first-hand.

A departure could be necessary

Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, are waiting to see what happens in their own midfield. One of the players influencing the situation is Robert Andrich.

The German midfielder, who was captain until this summer and is under contract until 2028, lost the armband following Martinez’s arrival.

Andrich’s situation has opened the door to a possible departure. The player had previously indicated that he would not seek an exit as long as he continued to feel important in the team, but it has been made clear to him that regular playing time could be difficult to find.

If Andrich leaves, it would make room for Casado’s arrival. The Barcelona midfielder is therefore one of the options being considered to strengthen a position that could become vacant at Leverkusen.

As mentioned previously, neither Saudi Arabia nor Turkey is a priority for Casado. There have been some late rumours of Real Betis showing interest, but they were dismissed as quickly.

As such, Bayer Leverkusen currently offers the combination that appeals to him most: Bundesliga football, a competitive project and, above all, the chance to work again with Carles Martinez.

FC Cologne are working on a deal with Crystal Palace for Borna Sosa, reports Florian Plettenberg. 

The defender is surplus to requirements with the Premier League outfits, and Cologne are keen to bring him back to the Bundesliga. 

Talks between both parties are currently ongoing, with a hopeful deal come the end of the day. 

Sosa has a current transfer value of just €3m; however, Cologne do have other candidates on their list should talks breakdown today.

RC Strasbourg Alsace have reportedly informed VfB Stuttgart of their desire to secure the services of Badredine Bouanani (21), according to L’Équipe.

Keen to negotiate a loan deal for the Algerian winger, the Alsatian club’s management are said to have found their German counterparts open to the possibility. Discussions are currently underway between the two clubs.

A product of the LOSC Lille youth academy, it was, however, at OGC Nice – which he joined in 2022 – that Bouanani launched his professional career. Having made 70 appearances in all competitions (five goals, seven assists) for Les Aiglons, the 21-year-old also spent six months on loan at FC Lorient during the second half of the 2023-24 season.

Making a permanent move to Germany last summer, Bouanani – whilst not having established himself as an undisputed first-team regular under Sebastian Hoeneß – has nevertheless made 28 appearances (two goals, two assists) for Stuttgart, where he remains under contract until 2030.

An Algerian international since 2023, he has made five appearances for the national team. Although selected for the World Cup this summer, Bouanani did not play a single minute.
