Privacy & Sharing Lists
Profile
As mentioned above your list can be found on your profile. Who can see your lists depends on your privacy settings for each individual list. There is no global privacy setting for all lists.
- Public: List can be set to be visible and shareable to anyone with the link
- Anyone signed into Plex: Only those signed into their Plex account will see the list
- Friends of Friends: Visible to friends of friends on Plex
- Friends Only: Visible only to those you are friends with on Plex
- Private: List will only be visible to you
Sharing Lists (Mobile Only)
- You can create a link to share a list by using the context menu on the list itself or the activity feed.
- Who can open and view the list will still depend on your privacy settings.
- Others who can view your list can also share your list, but with who depends on your privacy settings.
- Those who can view the list will be able to duplicate it so they can start a similar list of their
Activity Feed
- A list creation activity will appear on the feed when at least one item is added to the list.
- Will follow the same privacy setting you set for the list itself.
- Can be removed like any activity but removing it will not delete the list itself
- Allows for others to comment or react to the list.
Moderation and Reporting Lists
Like Reviews, Avatars and other potentially public user generated content, Lists will have automated moderation and can be reported based on their title and/or description.
List Cannot be Published: If you see this message it means the list title or description is not following the community guidelines. Only you will be able to see the list regardless of the privacy settings. It may have been reported in which case it will go to moderation queue.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How will Lists affect my existing playlists, collections, and my Watchlist?
A: They won’t. Lists is a new feature that simply offers you a new way to curate and organize movies, shows, and episodes. It won’t affect anything on your servers or on your existing lists (Playlists, Collections, or Watchlist). Refer to the above table for more details on how Lists fits into the existing list universe on Plex.
Q: What can be added to a List?
A: Only titles that are found on Plex and Discover can be added to a List. Learn more here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/universal-watchlist/
Q: Where is List data stored?
A: On Plex infrastructure/cloud.
Q: Where can I find List privacy settings?
A: Lists don’t have an overarching privacy setting. Rather, you can adjust the privacy/visibility setting of each individual list you create. Individual List settings follow existing Plex privacy settings and can be set when you create a list (at the top under List name and description). These individual list settings can be changed at any time.
Q: Where can I find other people’s Lists?
A: If you’re able to see others’ lists (dependent on the lists’ visibility settings), you will be able to see them on the Activity Feed if someone in your network has created a list. You can also find others’ lists by visiting their user profiles (under “Lists”).
Q: If I make my List public, where else is it visible?
A: Lists themselves are not searchable at the moment, so unless your public list is shared off-platform, it will only be visible to others on the Activity Feed and Profile pages on Plex.
Q: Can Managed Users create, view, share or have Lists shared to them?
A: At this time, Managed Users have no capabilities when it comes to Lists. This is a limitation that we would like to improve in the future.
