The most popular beaches of Koh Phangan are primarily located on the southeastern coast, including Haad Rin, where you’ll find an array of shops, massage parlors, and street vendors. However, if you prefer a quieter experience, the northern beaches, such as Bottle Beach, offer stunning scenery without the crowds. For those seeking tranquility, there are several pristine beaches at the northern tip of Koh Phangan, like Thong Nai Pan Noi and Thong Nai Pan Yai, featuring fewer facilities and a more peaceful atmosphere. These secluded spots are perfect for unwinding and enjoying the natural beauty of the island.

Transportation

Songthaew and taxi

A convenient option is the songteaw. These shared taxis run on fixed routes with set prices, so there’s no need to negotiate. At the pier, you’ll find songteaws waiting that you can share with other passengers, so you don’t have to worry about how to get to your accommodation. A ride typically costs between 100 and 200 baht per person. For more remote destinations like Thong Nai Pan and Thong Nai Pan Yai, you might need to hire the whole songteaw since there won’t be other passengers. You can also rent a songteaw for a half or full day and discuss the price with the driver to visit all the sights on your list!

Renting a scooter

Renting a scooter is a popular way to explore Koh Phangan. You can expect to pay around 250 baht per day, and often you’ll get a discount if you rent it for a longer period. Keep in mind that the roads can be challenging at times. If you’ve never ridden a scooter before, it might be wise to avoid this option. The road to Haad Rin is known for having accidents, especially around the Full Moon Party. Always remember to wear a helmet for your safety!
