Thoughts on the magnetic vector potential
Abstract
We collect together several ideas that we have found helpful in teaching the magnetic vector potential A. We argue that students can be taught to visualize A for simple current distributions and to see A as something with physical significance beyond its bare definition as the ``thing whose curl is B.''
