Frequently Asked Questions About The Artist
Who are you and what is the purpose of this website?
This is the official website intended to showcase the artwork and further commentary of the independent artist known as Cam R. (my preferred name)
untilted.lol is completely managed by Cam R. as both a personal and professional/commercial website. I hand-code the majority of the website's web design myself, as I have been learning some web design and development on my own time since around 2024, though I currently prefer to do this as a hobby rather than a career. As someone who has often received subpar assistance from others, right now I'm focused on challenging myself by developing my own skills and capabilities, rather than delegating tasks to others, so I will not be outsourcing work for now. I also may occasionally step away from time to time (max. 2 months, but if something major happens to me I may allow myself to exceed this maximum).
Why is it .lol and not .com?
Because almost everyone uses .com for their professional website, and I would like my website to stand out. Next question.
How often do you release new art? New comics?
Generally, my new art releases tend to be irregular as I tend to release my art whenever I get around to it. However, I put out new Untilted comics every 3 days. The reason is because I'm one of those people who need extra time to do most things, and that includes things I'm passionate about. So I don't do dailies or hourlies or stuff like that. However, I always manage to be on time for everything.
Is your art Safe For Work or Not Safe For Work?
All my art is created for a general audience and is not primarily directed at either children or adults. Anything I produce that may be interpreted to reflect an intent to target either children or adults is solely an artistic expression of my vision and does not imply that the content is indeed intended for children or adults. The themes and narratives are designed to engage readers and viewers of all ages, and no elements have been included with the specific intent to appeal predominantly to either children or adults. We don't all think in a "for kids"/"for adults" binary here, and I'm not here to judge either side for existing.
But if it makes you feel better, know that my art contains little to no: sexual themes, violence, obscene, or other mature themes not suitable for young audiences. And I never use explicit profanity. However, my art is never too sanitized either. In any case there's no need for age verification restrictions based on content on this website, except maybe to check if banking details are accurate for fraud protection purposes, but I think that's about it.
What materials or software do you use to create your art?
Like many, I use pen and ink and occasionally markers. However, what sets me apart from other artists is that I am willing to try and combine many different and often unlikely mediums such as glitter pens, acrylic paint, and more. So, basically, a "use what you got" mentality that is more thoughtful. I also mostly rely on digital software such as GNU Image Manipulation Program, Krita, and Inkscape. I do occasionally have to use Adobe apps such as Photoshop and Illustrator for when I want to do a certain thing that free software can't replicate, but overall I rely on mostly free and open source software to make my digital artwork. I also aim to avoid using artificial intelligence at all costs due to some ethical and environmental concerns. I am aware that digital art is the most susceptible to being copied by AI, so I always try to make sure that no AI is used.
What DON'T you do, anyway?
Here is what I do NOT do, for those willing to respect my boundaries:
- Graphic novel/manga/superhero comics (not my expertise)
- Game and software development (I only do web dev/design, but NOT as a service, just as a hobby)
- Livestreaming (takes up too much time and requires equipment that is too expensive for me to buy at the moment)
- Fan art and fiction (due to copyright concerns and the fact that I'm not that passionate about most IPs and other media)
- Sell merch/art prints/stickers/stock photos and illustrations/texture and brush packs/online teaching and learning courses/anything involving adult content, suggestive content, cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens, and artificial intelligence.
