System Requirements

Windows:

• 1GHz PIII processor
• Windows 2000 or XP (Pro and Home editions)
• minimum of 512MB of RAM

Hardware installation:

1. You will need a headset with microphone and want a webcam. It is highly recommended that you use a headset with microphone instead of desktop speakers and microphone.
2. Make sure the webcam and headset are working properly BEFORE installing Marratech Client.
3. You do not need to have a webcam to use Marratech Client.

Software installation:

1. Download Marratech Client
   • Marratech 5.0 for Windows (.msi, 30.5MB)
   • Marratech 5.0 for Mac OS X and Linux
2. Install Marratech Client
3. Edit bookmarks
   • Go to Slide->Edit Bookmarks
   • Monash's Marratech Portal is http://coolcampus.csse.monash.edu.au:8000
   • 
   • Don't forget to click on "Add" and "OK" after adding in the Monash Portal.
4. Go to homepage (or refresh the homepage) and you should see the newly added Monash Portal.
5. Click on Monash Portal to see a list of public rooms.
6. You may enter any of the public rooms.

Proxy setup

Please note: Proxy setup may not be applicable to users in Malaysia & South Africa.

* It is highly NOT recommended to use microphones on Logitech webcams with built-in microphone.

1. Any headsets. Prices of headsets that we have tested range from AUD$6 to AUD$199.

   • Labtec Stereo headset

Tips and Tricks

Echo problems

• The use of headset with microphone is highly recommended.
• Keep the microphone as far away from the headset's earpiece
• Reducing the output volume so that microphone does not hear it.
• Reduce microphone sensitvity.
• Use echo-cancelling microphones for hands-free and headset-free conferencing.
• Turn off microphone when joining a room.
