Getting started with Jaxer inside Studio

This page explains how to get started with Jaxer inside of Aptana Studio. You will need to install or upgrade to Aptana Studio 1.1 to use Jaxer.

  1. Start the internal Jaxer Server:
    1. Click the Jaxer button on the toolbar to start the internal Jaxer Server.

      This will display an informational dialog explaining more about Jaxer as well as providing a link to a complete Jaxer overview

    2. Click the arrow just to the right of the Jaxer button, which contains the Jaxer menu for Jaxer-related views and documentation (shown below).

  2. Create a new Web project
    1. From the File menu, select New > Project...
    2. Select Default Web Project under Aptana Projects (shown below), and click the Next button.

    3. Type a name for your project, and click Next.
    4. Check the box(es) next to any JavaScript libraries that you want to include in your project and Next.
  3. Add Jaxer support to your project:
    1. Click the Select All button on the Jaxer Support wizard page to configure this project for Jaxer development, and click Next.
    2. Click the Finish button.

      The wizard will now create your new project.

  4. View the included Jaxer Sample:
    1. Click the Project tab to display the Project view.
    2. Navigate to the new project that you just created.
    3. Double-click the jaxer_sample.html file to open it in the HTML Editor.
