You can't. You cannot start a user-interactive process on a remote machine, for what I think are obvious reasons.

QuestionRemote Desktop - can't log offsupporterpeterchen3:47 14 Apr '09
For one server, when I log in using MSTSC, I cannot log off.

Start/log off asks "do you really want to log off", I say "yes", and nothing happens.
shutdown /l says and does nothing.
Ctrl+Alt+End doesn#t show any dialog

You could look in the eventlog if there is a reason logged for overriding the logoff.

Looking into the Application (!) event log helped - fixing what I saw requested a reboot, haven't hd the problem since.

Thanks!

QuestionWIndows Vista: robocopy : error 5 : access is denied, while copying files from user's home directorymemberGajendra Sharma3:17 7 Apr '09
Hello,

I am getting "error 5: access is denied " message when trying robocopy:

robocopy c:\user\myuser\Documents\myfile.txt c:\user\myuser\mydest /E /XO stagein.txt

This happens only when i try to copy a file present is existing folder in user's home, such as:
c:\users\myuser\documents or c:\user\myuser etc.

Interestingly, if i create my own folder under these folders and try copying a file from there, it works.
I have tried giving full permissions, changing acls etc. with cacls . But with no avail.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I have a small lab testing my ISA 2004 server. My lave has one DC with also install certificate authorize (CA) and a member server isa with some client machine. When I try to obtain the CA from ISA computer via internet explorer, I could not access its CA pages and its display the following error:

Technical Information (for support personnel)
Error Code: 403 Forbidden. The ISA Server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). (12202)

QuestionSystem performance Advisor - Installation Problemsupporterpeterchen23:45 30 Mar '09
I am trying to install System Performance Advisor[^], but installation fails on both servers with the follwing error:

---------------------------
Setup
---------------------------
Exit from this installation because of IsTaskSchedulerRunning failed at System.InvalidOperationException: Der Dienst Task Scheduler wurde nicht auf dem Computer . gefunden. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Der angegebene Dienst ist kein installierter Dienst

--- Ende der internen Ausnahmestapelüberwachung ---

at Microsoft.ServerPerformanceAdvisor.Install.PerformanceInstaller.IsTaskSchedulerRunning().
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

("The service Task Scheduler was not found on computer . --> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The specified service is not an installed service".)

Both servers run Windows 2003 (one SBS, one Standard), and on both the Task Scheduler is of course running and doing its duty fine.

Google finds a few people with the same problem, but that's it.

Any ideas? Any better place to ask?

Are both your servers German?
How about the other ones with the same problem that you've found, were they also non English?

Yes, but none that's going to make you happy.

Der Dienst Task Scheduler wurde nicht auf dem Computer . gefunden. might mean that the installation program looks for the display name (Task Scheduler) instead of the service name (Schedule). I guess the display name in German isn't "Task Scheduler".

If you're prepared to do some experimenting, I have an idea that might be worth trying.
If you in the registry go to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Schedule and change the value for the key "Displayname" to "Task Scheduler".
Don't forget to backup the old string value.

And the usual yadayada about not taking any responsibility what so ever applies as usual.

The chance is of course pretty high that there is some other checks done than just the displayname...
