for all you beach lovers)
Kata Beach is many people's favourite beach in Phuket. Stunningly
beautiful with surfing from May to October, from November to April surfing is
replaced by snorkeling and sunbathing and other watersports. The beach is palm
lined and fairly busy but never too crowded to be annoying. In the high
season, yachts moor just offshore, adding to the ambience and the sunsets here
are some of the best in Thailand. Restaurant lined or tree lined, there's a perfect
spot for everyone at Kata.
With the exception of the popular Easyrider's Pub with its
live, excellent but loud music - and a few pockets of beer bars - nightlife in
Kata is mostly family oriented and relaxed. Dino Park, located on the rise that
separates Kata and Karon beaches, is a great place for the family with its minigolf,
good hamburgers and happy ambience. Kata's many open-air bars, restaurants
and shops are where most visitors relax in the evening. There are some good bars
that open late but they are very unobtrusive, however those who seek them out
will find them. In southern Kata there are several upscale resorts and restaurants
where fine dining is available.
For many, one of the main draws to Kata is the number of high-quality
restaurants that offer excellent value for money. Kata is fortunate to have more
than its fair share of eateries that have been recognised as amongst the best
in Thailand. There are also many great Thai and seafood restaurants. For
a spectacular sunset view, drive just a few minutes east towards Chalong and stop
in at one of the hilltop restaurants. |
