So how messed up is your bracket? At least I got that Western Kentucky win over Illinois?

We ran the All-Metro and area All-League teams  for boys and girls today.  Feel free to add your thoughts.

And today the NCAA tournament begins (not including that play-in game, which I actually watched. Yes, I’ve watched NIT games, too. I can’t believe Georgetown lost and I love Davidson)

Today and Friday have to be the best days of the sports year. There’s so much basketball on, and if the game you want isn’t on TV, check it out online. It’s just two perfect days. It’s almost a letdown for me for the weeks after this leading up to the Final Four because I so love all the basketball games today.

So what’s your favorite sports days? The Super Bowl? NBA Finals?

And the winner is ….

Tom Osler picked eight champs right for last weekend’s state titles, so he wins the movie ticket, given from my own pocket.

Thanks to everyone who participated.

In case you’re wondering, I picked two boys champs and had seven teams in the finals (Class 2A and 4A killed Jonathan and I), while Jonathan had three champs and five in the finals. On the girls side, I picked five champs and had seven in the finals, Jonathan had 3 champs and seven in the finals.

So today’s my brother’s birthday. In the classic fashion of my side of the family, his birthday celebration started sometime last week and will end sometime next week.

Now I know this isn’t a sports post for all you readers who think only sports posts should ever be on this blog — he is a season-ticket holder for the Minnesota Vikings if that helps — but I’m wondering how you celebrate your birthday. Is it a big deal or no deal at all?

Me, I love birthdays. I know I’m getting older every year, but that just means more reason for parties. Presents are nice, but they don’t even have to be extravagant.

Girls all-league teams

Tuesday @ 5:50 p.m. by jlong

By: J. Long

Here’s the list.
There are two things that really stood out to me. Being on the City League team doesn’t much, because they seem to put everybody that suited up on the team.
No disrespect to Kevin Hackerott of Wellington, but how do you go 2-8 in the league and be named coach of the year?????

We’ll be running area all-league teams in Thursday’s paper along with our All-Metro boys and girls teams.

But here’s the City League, AV-CTL Divisions I-4 and the CPL boys. I’m waiting on the MCAA.

Name your All-State and All-Class selections

Yep, I want to know what you think. We did the middle of the year picks, we did close to the end of the year, and now it’s the ‘it’s all over’ picks.

I’ll get the boys all-league up here soon. But until then, I want to know who are the best five boys basketball players in the state. I’ve already made my picks, and those will be revealed on Sunday in the paper and online.

The All-Class picks will run then, too. I pick a first team boys all-class (each class) and second team. Who should be on the first team for each class. (J. Long picks the girls.)

Attention baseball and girls track coaches

@ 12:36 p.m. by Joanna

We’re working on our previews for spring sports, but for some reason we haven’t gotten any baseball or girls track surveys back. We’re not quite sure why because they were sent out.

So if you coach any spring sport and haven’t sent in your survey, fax it in to 316-268-6536 or e-mail me at jchadwick@wichitaeagle.com. If you’re a baseball coach or a girls track coach in the area and haven’t gotten a survey, please send your previews to the same.

Thank you!

Spring sports previews start this week, on Sunday with boys and girls track. What sport are you most interested in?

Bryce Brown chose Tennessee yesterday in a news conference. If you were as good as he is, where would you go to play and why?

Today’s the day for Bryce Brown

Bryce is probably the most calm and composed person here at the Kansas Hall of Fame. He’s still not saying where it will be. *NON Bryce news, Blake Bell is here and he’s wearing a Texas A&M t-shirt.
