I'm looking to replace my HD4850 with one of the new AMD ATI cards coming out later this month. I'm interested in a card with graphic performance comparable to the HD4850, but that uses less power, and throws off less heat.

Suggestions?

Um, there aren't confirmed specs for the cards coming out this month...

Since those new ATI cards are not out, it is impossible to tell you which of them to get. Wait until Sept 10th for the pre-launch event. Pricing and additional information will be provided then.

What they said, you know as much as anyone else right now.

Cross your fingers for another 8 days for part info. Don't expect them in retail channels until around the 24th however. The low power cards have really been low key on the rumor front so there really isn't even much speculation we can toss your way.

The HD4770 is close to the 4850's performance, but ultimately slower. It does use less power and should produce less heat. As for the new cards, nobody knows yet.

That would be a 4770, but it's a bit pointless in your situation.
