There are a lot of upmarket and luxury hotels located around Bang Tao, creating a distinctive yet low-key nightlife. The Laguna – a complex of six upmarket hotels linked by a land and water shuttle service – is fully self-contained with restaurants, bars, entertainment and leisure activities both by day and night. It's all there. If you feel the need to get a more local view, there are lots of bars and small restaurants in the area that provide great food at very reasonable prices.

The Banyan Tree Phuket, known for its health-conscious spa treatments, also has some interesting restaurants. Saffron features Middle-Eastern and Asian dishes prepared and served on unique pottery dishes at surprisingly reasonable prices for a five-star resort. Albatros
Albatross is a charming and pleasant dining venue as it has one of the best locations in Phuket. It stands waterside at the Canal Village inside Laguna Phuket facing the five-star resorts. Popular dishes includes chicken sate, vegetable spring rolls, filet mignon served with French fries or baby potatoes, chicken with cashew nuts, penang shrimp (shrimp in curry and coconut milk) and BBQ'd Phuket lobster. In addition to the award-winning restaurants of Laguna Phuket, there is a nice little strip of upscale shops and restaurants that have developed nearby, especially at Tinlay Place located just right after the traffic light before Laguna Complex. Restaurants and bars there include Toto, Tatonka, Tawai, Kargo and the Supper Club. Most of these restaurants provide free shuttle services to Laguna guests.
Toto
Toto is well known for serving gourmet Italian food in a fun but classy setting. If you prefer to dine outdoors from the same menu, try Toto's Garden situated just opposite the main restaurant.

 Siam Supper Club (aka the Supper Club)
This is a well-known place to socialize, network and, of course, to enjoy some first-class food. With a 'California Cuisine' menu and some of the best cheesecake anywhere in the world, this funky, hip restaurant and lounge is an institution among the island's well-to-do residents. Don’t forget to try their homemade chocolate brownies with vanilla ice cream.

Black Cat
This is a friendly semi open-air and bamboo-style French restaurant, where locals and visitors mix for good food and a friendly ambiance. Black Cat is well known for its warm service and inexpensive meals. The menu includes pizza, fresh tuna in lime sauce, fried mixed seafood, burgers, masaman curry and tom yum goong. Blue Bell
Blue Bell is one of a few lake-side restaurants near the Laguna Phuket where customers can also enjoy a lake view in an open-air atmosphere. If you're not sure what to order, be brave and try the famous tom yum goong or green curry with chicken and fried mixed vegetables. You can’t go wrong with these famous Thai dishes. Prices are reasonable.

Sandwich Shoppe Laguna
Own by long-term resident Woody Leonhard and a part of Woody's Bakery & Café, a local franchise that has a few outlets on the island. They not only have one of the best sandwich choices in Phuket but also many fresh-baked products like cheesecakes, blueberry muffins, bagels and almond croissants. Sandwich Shoppe also provides one of the island's fastest internet connections and is absolutely free. Bring your laptop, but if yours is at home there are a few PC's available in the shop. Cozy ambience and friendly staff.

Chaba
Chaba serves Thai and international dishes. It you are a fan of seafood enjoy fresh tropical choices from Chaba’s live seafood aquarium such as Phuket lobster, tiger prawns, sea bass, snapper, squid, mussels and fresh oysters. The restaurant is mostly open-air with a good lake view on one side. Regular live music at about 19:00 onward plus big screens showing international sporting events.

Beachfront Restaurants
People used to refer to the group of beachfront restaurants straddling Bang Tao Beach as 'the beach shack restaurants' but it is not the case any more. Though many of them have been there for long time, they have upgraded their looks to keep up to date and more functional. Most flank the Laguna Phuket resort complex. Such places are Lotus, Tom Yum Goong, Wattana Restaurant, Tik Restaurant and Preeda’s Kitchen.
Lotus Restaurant
Lotus was one of the very first restaurants to open on Bang Tao Beach (over 20 years ago). It has outstanding sea views and a relaxed atmosphere together with first-class Thai seafood, and this combination makes the place a definite standout. Must-try dishes include BBQ seafood, penang gai, tom yum seafood and spring rolls. Prices are reasonable.

Café Java
Café Java was established over a decade ago but eventually moved from the original location in Kamala to Bang Tao Beach. Located inside Bang Tao Lagoon Bungalows, Café Java offers fine French and Thai cuisine overlooking the bay. Try the seafood salad with asparagus and hot dressing and sea bream timbale with eggplant. And don’t forget to complete your meal with the chocolate mousse. It’s yummy.

The Orange House
As the name suggests, it is hard to miss the Orange house as the building is such a bright colour. The place operates as a dive centre, café and bar and even though the menu is not so extensive they have good enough choices such as Scandinavian breakfast, American breakfast, ham & cheese sandwich and spring-rolls. It is a friendly place open to all, and certainly not limited to divers. Try their happy hour drinks/cocktails. Orange House is a cool place with nice atmosphere and chilled out music with a full-sized pool table.

Babylon Beach Club
One of the few high-end, non-hotel restaurants on Bang Tao Beach. Near Bang Tao and Cherng Talay
The residents of Bang Tao and Cherng Talay are lucky in having so many fine restaurants so close by. As for visitors, it can't be more convenient to be able to choose from the many types restaurants in this area, from small and simple Thai-style outlets to hipper and trendy new places. There's really no need to make the trip to busy Patong; it's all here.
Nok & Jo's
A family-run restaurant offering food from Thai dishes to pizzas, burgers, pasta, BBQ as well as fresh seafood. Sunday buffets start at 18:00 and feature live music. Nok & Jo's also have good wine list and cocktails are available. It's well worth visiting this restaurant.

Lady Pie
All Lady Pie’s products are made on the premises with the best of fresh local ingredients. These include Aussie meat pies (their No. 1 best seller with minced lean beef and onions in rich beef gravy), steak pie (lean pieces of tender steak slowly cooked in onions and Lady Pie's special ingredients to give a rich tasty experience). Other popular products include sausage rolls, lean smoked eye rind bacon, cheesecake, and apple & blueberry pie. This place is popular with local expats, and with good reason.
