Kata Noi Beach Guide

This cosy little bay is found at the end of a dead-end road, just a few minutes' drive over the hill from Kata beach. There's not much to do in Kata Noi apart from admiring the wonderful scenery, which is precisely the point of coming here.

Relax, take a walk along the soft sands, snorkel or swim. It's long been a popular spot for surfers in the monsoon season of May to October, though swimming can be dangerous during this period.

The popular Kata Viewpoint, offering a stunning vista across the three bays of Karon, Kata and Kata Noi, is only a 5-minute drive along a winding road towards Nai Harn.

Kata Noi is almost a one hotel town, but what a hotel. Five star Katathani Resort and Spa dominates with both beachfront and jungle accommodation.Besides a few low-key hotels and bungalows the only other option is Mom Tri's Villa Royale, another five star hotel but this one's smaller, unique and altogether more intimate.

The Beach (our guide for beach lovers)

This beautiful beach is popular, especially in high season, the fine white sand and excellent water quality have ensured that. Many who use the beach don't actually stay here so there can be a lot of cars competing for parking spaces. Surfers come to ride the waves on occasional stormy days from May to October. The rest of the time crystal clear water can be expected with excellent snorkeling.

As Kata Noi is a quiet and relaxed place, nightlife is restricted to a couple of bars and few restaurants.A short walk up the hill towards Kata is the celebrated Mom Tri's Kitchen, which offers world-class cuisine with an extensive wine list in a romantic setting overlooking the sea. Those looking for a full range of dining and nightlife options should venture over the hill to Kata and beyond.

You'll find a some friendly tailor shops and a convenience store for bread, crisps, sweets and drinks in Kata Noi but not much else.
