Dali Hotels and Travel Guide
Dali Travel Information
Dali is a city that features natural wonders as well as human achievement. Situated northwest of Yunnan province, it is the cultural centre of the Dali Bai autonomous prefecture. Fringed in by the towering Cangshan Mountains (Jade Green Mountains) to the south, east and west, the city’s centre is defined by the Erhai Lake (of the seven biggest fresh water lakes in China). The city is divided into two areas of interest – the Ancient City and the New District (widely known as Xiaguan).
Most attractions in Dali lie between these two landmarks such as the Butterfly Spring, and the Temple. Traditionally well-known local products and specialties are the bowl-shaped compressed mass of tea leaves, cigars, Zha-dyed cloth, bow fish and snow pears. Dali is a small city packed with unique charms and customs; a place where fascinating cultural and recreational pursuits can be explored.
