Red Wii and DSi XL bundles, Wii Remote Plus, and FlingSmash in North America Nov. 7

After keeping us in suspense for a couple of weeks, Nintendo of America has finally announced the Super Mario Bros. 25th anniversary hardware bundles for North America. Both the red Wii and DSi XL systems will arrive on November 7.

The $200 Wii bundle includes New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Sports, and a red Wii Remote Plus. Neither the package nor the press release mentions anything about the special versions of the NES Super Mario Bros. or Donkey Kong included in other regions. The $180 DSi XL bundle includes Mario Kart DS, and comes pre-loaded with two Brain Age Express games and Photo Clock.

The Wii Remote Plus, combining a Wiimote and a MotionPlus, will be released the same day for $40, in white, black, pink, and blue. It will be the standard Wii controller from now on, included in hardware bundles. FlingSmash will also come packed in with a Wii Remote Plus -- it's out the same day for $50.

As we all know, Super Mario Collection for the Wii wastes a metric shit ton of space on a DVD. As the U.S. does not use the metric system, that metric shit ton has to be manually converted to an American shit ton for release in North America.

My thoughts exactly. I'm pretty sure that's the aspect of the whole "SMB 25th Anniversary" thing that people are most interested in.

Does the box say American Heart Association? Do some of the proceeds go to them?

I would totally get a different colored Wii, but with VC and WiiWare games being such a pain to transfer, it's just not worth it. Same thing with the hard drives on the new 360s.

$200 for Wii Sports, NSMB and one of the new combo WiiMotes seems like a pretty awesome deal to me. Oh, and it's a red Wii...which is TOTALLY cool.

Sadly, my current Wii still works so I really don't want another one. But if I didn't have it, I'd definitely get one. Looks awesome to me.

The DSi is beautiful but the that Wii could use some anniversary decal of some sort!

Yeah I also got that "must have this" feeling when I saw the article, but I figured that if I could pass up the Halo:reach 360 (a machine that I would, in all likelihood, use every day) I could probably pass on buying another machine that I turn on maybe 10 times a year, despite the fact that the red finish would really compliment the colors in our living room.

Seriously? SERIOUSLY! I knew something like this would happen, I just got my first DS ( Midnight Blue DSi XL) on the f'n 5th. FML.

They announced the red DSi in other countries before then, so yeah you really should have known...

Bull...companies stage regional releases to leave people guessing.

There have been plenty of special editions that didn't hit US market.

So..the Epic Mickey skin would still look like shit on this Wii too. If I hadn't gotten a black Wii a few months ago..I'd be torn between this and white.

The red makes it look more toyish than ever.

I was wondering what Nintendo would have for the holiday season in USA.

Seems like they chose to repackage New Super Mario Bros for another year. And it will probably sell really well again. Honestly, I don't think Donkey Kong will be much of a hit.

Got damn, these bundles are sick!!! I paid 250 plus 7% tax for my plain white Wii back in June 07, with just Wii Sports! Got damn, these deals are sick.

I'd buy this but I'd rather not lose all of my WiiWare games.

I'm hoping stores will sell the current bundle with the separate Wii Motion+ at a discount to clear space for this new bundle. That'd make up for the couple of VC and WiiWare games I'd be losing and I'd go ahead a pick up a black one.

The Japanese Mario 25th DSi LL box art is much prettier than the NA one. *SIGH*

Should help them be competitive this holiday season. NSMBWii did single-handedly lift them up last year, after all

Ugh, really? Mario Kart DS? I got that with my Red DS... now if I upgrade, I get a repeat game... booooo.

Is there really no other game in the last 3 years that would help push the new DSi XL sales then Mario Kart DS (which, let's be honest, isn't Mario Kart's best title - especially the broken multiplayer!)

I just really want that Red Wiimote plus, I already have a Wii and a copy of NSMBW
